Hey guys, I need some advice on my parking situation. I live in a newer housing development where most home owners park their cars in their garages. Almost no one parks their cars in the street except my neighbor across the street. The neighbor across the street does not use his garage. Instead he parks all his cars on his driveway except for the 2 or 3 other cars his tenants (I think they are his tenants) park in front of my house.
It kinda sucks because the 2 or 3 cars parked in front of my house make it so I cannot park in front of my own house. There is a lot of space in front of his house on the street, but that would require they to do a u-turn to park in front of their own house. So they are just lazy and park in front of my house. I'm kinda frustrated because that means I can never park any of my own cars in front of my own house!
Any advise? I'm pretty sure my neighbor would be offended if I asked them to leave me some space. They are pretty inconsiderate and my other neighbor and I have both had to pickup garbage in the street they have left after parties.
Where I live, they do have some city ordinances which prohibit storing cars (leaving them parked for over 72 hours) in the street. Sometimes my neighbor's cars are parked for 2 to 3 weeks without moving. But the ordinaces are pretty low priority because they never seem to be enforced...

Do you have any home owners association? I'd first talk to the guy and ask him if he can use the open space in front of his own house before taking up other space. If he doesn't give a ****, then take it up to the homeowners association.
Sometimes neighbors can be jerks, sometimes it's their kids who can't be controlled who are the jerks. My across the street neighbor has the latter which almost makes it impossible for me to get out onto the street without doing 3 point turn on my driveway...

talk to him first. who cares if he would be offended or not, because he'd feel the same if the situation was reversed.
if talking doesnt work, get a dog with a " loose ******* ", so to speak

If it's the street it's public domain, so there might not be anything you can do "officially".... but just talk to him about it and hopefully he's cool and will understand.
i wouldnt start a neighborhood war as that stuff can get ugly fast.

There is no law requiring people to park their own cars in front of their own houses. Any legally registered, operable vehicle may be parked on the street in the public right-of-way. But if they always throw trash there or leave their car parked more than the "72" hours you can call the city and have them issue them a ticket.
Also if you have trees in front of the house you can buy a bird feeder and throw a bunch of bird seeds around and on his car.. (bird **** sucks and acid stains the paint) unless he has a bucket =/ Also check for oil/coolant leaks you can also report them to the city. OR park your car in front of his house and put a camera on it just in case he plans to do something sue his ***.

I hate it when people park their cars in front of my house especially on street cleaning days and garbage days. I pay my taxes and the garbage bill, and when cars are parked there, I can't put out my garbage cans in front of my house or, the street sweeps will avoid the parked cars. Then the street in front of my house remains dirty until the next month when the next scheduled street cleaning occurs.
I had this geezer who owns a tar business park his tar kettles opposite my house...he lives around the corner but doesn't want these ugly tar vehicles outside his own house so he parks them opposite mine...
so I called the police, they inform traffic enforcement and the next day he gets a ticket so he has to move them in 72 hours or get them towed (expensive). He would move these f*ck ugly tar kettles then the next week park them opposite my house again, so I call the police, he gets a 72 hour ticket etc.....after 4 or 5 police calls and 72 hour tickets he gets the message and parks them somewhere else.
My advice is call the police and get them ticketed again and again until eventually they get the message..you do it anonomously and so avoid any ugly scenes.

Park infront of his house. Call friends with extra cars and park them there too. Then one day move your cars infront of your house and infront of the houses of your next door neighbors.
