painting stock wheels
Quick run down
-clean em real good and degrease (simple green, goo-good, IPA)
-Aircraft Stripper to strip the paint (not required)
-320 grit sand the wheels (all surfaces)
-clean/wash/degrease again
-1 thin thin coat of primer to get good adhesion. 2 more thin coats of primer, 15-20 minutes between coats. Let the primer sit and dry for a bit (1-2hrs)
-4-5 coats of paint. Again, thin coats, 15-20 minutes between coats. Let dry (1-2hr again)
-3-4 coats of clear. Again, thin coats, 15-20 minutes apart.
Some choose to wetsand between priming and painting, its up to you. They are just wheels, so I dont think its needed. Getting the wheels properly sanded, cleaned, and primed is the most important part, as the paint must stick
