Paint Repair Cheap

Anyone know someone that can paint this or fix it for cheap? I don't even know how this happened but its bad. I don't want to pay $500 to repaint this. I know the whole section will probably have to be repainted unfortunately. Its right above my passenger window.

Let me know if you do find out. Some inconsiderate person at work sideswiped my car I'm guessing while they were either parking or getting out.

Can you provide any closer pictures to better make out the damage? The section on your roof looks randomly scratched, while the pillar section Im not sure if that is a scratch through the paint or surface scuffing in one direction.

from the picture, it doesn't look that deep. Possible to polish/buff out?

If it is down to the metal, there's nothing you can do to fix it. Like Pho mentioned though, if it is mainly scuffing, most of that can be buffed out.

I am assuming $500 is your deductible for your insurance, if that is the case, $500 isn't that much to get it fixed correctly since it is down to metal, a body shop is going to have to sand that whole area down to bare metal and re-primer, base, and clear and blend the surrounding panels so that it doesn't look super obvious that it was resprayed, also silver is a very hard color to match so I would definitely leave it up to a good quality body shop. they are probably going to re-spray your roof as well. If you do find a cheap shop to fix it they will probably be doing a single stage paint that can not be cut and buffed or matched exactly to your other paint, and single stage paint jobs are always a little darker than an OEM style base-clear paint job... BTW I'm not trying to sound like an ******* or anything just my personal experience with getting other cars painted, you get what you pay for, that is probably over $1000 worth of damage

if its not to metal but a deep scratch use touch up paint then wet sand flush before buffing and polishing

Ive talked to touch up paint people and they said the same thing, silver is practically impossible to match and it would only look about 60% better then before. I guess ill talk to some local paint shops.

Touch up on something that large usually does not end up looking good no matter how good you are. Small chips are one thing, but something 3-4 inches long will still pretty much be totally visible.
