I decided to go with the job in Oakland (asian health org) cuz it offered a better salary (and even upped it to what I requested with no fighting), much better benefits (13v/12h/12s with vacation time increasing with length of stay), a better commute, yearly raises, and much better job growth. The job growth with this company is something I found out about in a 40 minute phone convo with my supervisor yesterday, and it really helped sway things in their favor.
The other company in SF just couldn't answer any of the questions I posed to them, said "no" to any salary increases, was evasive about future raises, etc etc. Too shady for me in the end, even if I was interested in learning about the private equity business.
Actually, I think it all worked out for the best because from Monday to Thursday, when I was thinking I'd go with the SF job, I kept having a niggling doubt that wouldn't go away. The moment I firmly decided on going with the Oakland job offer, the doubt went away and I felt really good about myself.
Thanks for all the input guys!! I'll be back in the working world on Wednesday. Until then, I'm having some more fun.
