P1090 TGV #1 (RH) Malfunction (Stuck Open)

Awesome, so this code was just popped today. Is this a code that I can clear and ignore or will this be a problem to drive the car with this code showing (i.e. would I be safe driving with the car in this condition or should I try and find someone to give me a ride to BAM tomorrow)?

Is this something that means it's now time to try and get some TGV Deletes & a new tune or is there anything that can be done to try to fix this issue?

haha don't take my word for this but from what i've heard the tgvs work when motor is cold so when warmed up it shouldnt be a problem (my car is basically stock so i have not researched much into things like that)

from iwsti thread i saw TGV tumbler deletes - Subaru Impreza WRX STI Forums: IWSTI.com

TVG's are a butterfly valve put in place for start-up emissions control.

When the engine is at idle, these valves close and bypass the incoming airflow through a passage to increase the swirl of the air/fuel mixture, resulting in an engine that operates more cleanly. Other benefits include easier cold starts, reduced emissions and efficient low-speed operation

if it's stuck open, it shouldn't be too much of a problem. TGVs are a butterfly valve that open slowly when the motor is cold, to a full open position when the motor is warm. It's to help cold-start emissions, however, should have no problems as long as it is stuck open once the motor is warm.

Might as well use this as an excuse to do TGV deletes, if you're modding your car.

You should be ok. You might tap the motor or see if it came unplugged. Car should just boot you out cruise control and run in limp mode. It also might be just stuck and free itself. You should be fine to drive it to bam

You can drive as long as you want with it like that, with no ill effect other than the increased emissions at cold start. However, the code means you won't pass SMOG.

Before your next SMOG you need to either get a ROM that removes the TGV codes or just do TGV deletes and you still need a ROM that removes the codes... or you need to actually fix it.

No rush on getting it done.

Gino or Andrew bumped my TGV and it had this code for years. At the time people didn't know the code was for TGVs and we didn't know what to fix, but my car went in with no codes and came out with that code. I think I spent 3 or 4 years driving the car around until my new car 6+ year period for SMOG was up and I had to get it fixed.
