for those of you that have spent years in one martial art and are training in something else, want to share why? obviously you put a lot of time into it, so why don't you concentrate on what you're doing, but instead go off and learn something else?
The way I see it, you're probably going to get your *** kicked by a karate 8 dan black belt, even if you have, say, 4 dan in 5 different martial arts.
Good old quantity vs quality question.

just to lay it down...
many points to what is studied.....
straight to the point...
85% of street fights end up on the ground.
kickboxin' tae kwon do, etc... isn't enough anymore.
for people who experience fights on the street, the person your fightin' are b*tch anyways and would take you to the ground, and or pull out a b*tch a$$ weapon.
and in most cases bring they boys along.
so just recently (ufc, koc, pride) the past years grapplin' is the sh*t.
my cousin is currently makin' his way to ufc, but has to be accepted after he proves his way through pride.
but real talk ...to all those who are real fighters...its not what you know...its knowing how to throw a good strike.
if you don't know how to punch right, you b*tch yourself!
peace.

I still think that if you found a certain martial art not adequate for a certain situation, you just haven't learn enough.
Each martial art should be a 'complete package', otherwise it would've died out long time ago. That's what I think anyway...

yo....
OK LETS BREAK IT DOWN....AS I SAID BEFORE......AND TO AGREE WITH A FEW OF YOU.
95% OF MARTIAL ARTS OUT THERE ONLY TEACH YOU CERTAIN ATTACKS AND DEFFENSE MOVES.
UFC 1 PROVED IT. ALL THESE STRIKERS WERE GOIN UP AGAINST GRAPPLERS AND GETTIN THY A$$ 'S KICKED ALL OVER THE PLACE.
NOW WHAT DO YOU SEE....THE MOST TALENTED STRIKERS ARE NOW THE MOST FLUENT IN GRAPPLIN.
SO LEARNING ANOTHER BACKGROUND WILL HELP YOU IN A LOT OF ISH.
JUST LIKE TRUEMATSU SIAD THEY DONT TEACH YOU A DEFENSE TO A TACKLE IN TAE KWON DO BECAUSE YOUR USED TO GOIN TOE TO TOE. JUST LIKE A BOXER A USED TO GETTING HIS THIGHS KICKED.
PEACE WITH THIS.

Fighting styles
I remember years ago there was a fighter in those underground tv fighting rings that was unbeatable, basically untouchable. I don't know if he gave up, but this guy would just stand in the middle of the ring and wait for an offensive move. He would then basically grab which ever hand went in front of him and threw his opponent around like he was a rag doll while still holding his opponents hand. It was pretty amazing to see, almost halarious. The art was some type of judo from Hawaii or someplace like that. His opponent was even much bigger than him to which made the art he was using very powerful.
