for those of you that have spent years in one martial art and are training in something else, want to share why? obviously you put a lot of time into it, so why don't you concentrate on what you're doing, but instead go off and learn something else?

The way I see it, you're probably going to get your *** kicked by a karate 8 dan black belt, even if you have, say, 4 dan in 5 different martial arts.

Good old quantity vs quality question.

I still think that if you found a certain martial art not adequate for a certain situation, you just haven't learn enough.

Each martial art should be a 'complete package', otherwise it would've died out long time ago. That's what I think anyway...

well I just started, 6 kyu in karate. So no, I'm not an expert or anything. But its just my impression that you don't just do this particular block for this particular attack, etc, you have to be creative sometimes.
