5 years ago, the valve body mod was not that common. They are expensive to buy yourself and otherwise you had a lot of downtime. When the high stall was going around, one person had a converter and got it modified. Then the stock converter got passed around to different to avoid having downtime with your car.

Thats what the 5EAT crew does on the legacyGT forums. They have a spare stocker valve body that gets passed around while people have some place in NJ rebuild and cryo theirs. Makes for some insanely fast shifts, though I hear its not to comfortable to daily drive.

If you are looking for a comfortable, nice, relaxing drive, yea it's gonna suck. But if you like smashing onto the freeway and having fun on the back road, it's awesome. Someone might have started doing this on nasioc for the 4eat, but I gave up on modifying mine any more.
