Thanks for the embed. I drive a 05 Wrx 4eat myself and I do notice that I don't lose boost when shifting to other gears, but when I drive my friends Sti I notice I have to regain boost after each shift. Is this true?

My understanding is and correct me if I'm wrong but a high stall torque converter on auto acts like a 2 step?

Talk to strider327. Nice setup. I'm about to pick up a torque converter from him as well.

With the high stall, I can hold revs to 4200rpm and then launch. Full boost launch off the line is crazy. And yea there is no drop in boost between shifts. It shifts a little faster. The best improvement is a reworked valve body. Those will result in the fastest shifts possible. There is also a wire you can tap into where you run 12v to it and it locks the converter completely. You can only do that above 5000rpm cause it may otherwise stall the car out. When it shifts, you can leave the switch on, the shifts are harder and it may bog a little after it shifts. But there is a noticeable increase in getting the power to the ground. When I've flipped the switch, I noticed my revs drop down about 500rpm and it stays in that gear longer than it would usually.

My god...lol. seems like a perfect setup for the drag strips, unlike a manual sounds as if you would get perfect shifts each time.

Yea, except one small problem. It can take 5-8 seconds to get to that rpm and build that much boost. And you can only hold it there for a short time if you don't want to blow your transmission. It builds up too much heat sitting there holding it back. In a typical drag race scenerio, you are getting ready to stage at the light, you try to get there while the other car is doing their burnout. You position yourself, then start getting the revs up. By the time the other car is staged, you should be ready to go. It doesn't always work that way. The other car could stage faster or could stage slower. If you have to back off the because the other car didn't stage, you will never be able to get the revs back up. Consider it a wasted launch. In a hand raising street race scenerio, you would have to know the flagger to let them know when you were ready to launch before they flag you down.

Oh and I read the description, shifting gears in the auto (especially with a high stall) is pointless. It does not shift faster and may even overshift causing you to lose time and speed. The only time to manually shift is when you are in the twisties or doing a rolling start.
