I think V.D. will make that catch most of the time. But I still think the more effective way to use him is in the 15-18 yard range down the middle. You've got the RB's in the flats. Crabtree is great on the outs. Ginn is the one you go to on those straight bombs. I think you use V.D. on those midrange ***** up the middle and let him run over the safeties.
I agree VD is paid the big bucks to convert. If he was more consistent, he would pull even more threat and let the WRs work 1v1 to win some battles.
Gotta make those big plays to change the game.... hell
49ers only got in the end zone 2 times in the past 2 games. Very terrible stat.
Even the Broncos and their hardcore running can get it done better than that with Tebow. 49ers defense will always keep them in the game, the offense has to put at least 20-30 (in some of these games, it should have been more like 40-50pts. Literally). I know they haven't had a lot of time to practice, but now it's more misfiring down field and dropped *****. There could have been another 5+ TDs if folks would stop gettin' butter fingers.

A huge part of the 49ers issue is short yardage play calling. They have been one of the worst short yardage 3rd down teams in the NFL for YEARS. Very predictable. That's a coaching issue. Understand your personnel.
The Broncos have GREAT run blocking. That leads to a lot of short yardage conversions. You need those to succeed in the red zone. For some reason, when the niners get in the red zone they completely change. There is still a fear of failure there. With Tebow there is ZERO fear of failure. Maybe Smith can learn from that. Need to be that for guys to get behind you and believe they can convert no matter what. Desire. Will. Heart.
It's not there yet. I honestly think even the players on the niners still haven't figured out how good they are. They still think they're a team that hasn't arrived yet. They need to change that before they're gonna make it to the next level.
And yes... V.D. needs to step up. He's one of the best athletes at the position in the NFL. Do some hand drills broham!
In any case, Big Ben listed as questionable with a high ankle sprain for next Sunday. He's got to be in, cuz Batch is terrible and the 49ers will eat that QB up. But I don't know how many extra hits you want Ben to take before playoffs. They also have 4 other teams that can change positions in the playoffs this Sunday alone. Decision time for the coaches.
If I could improve the 49ers defense it would be the pass rush. I want to see 4+ sacks a game. Aldon Smith is still workin' on it and he'll be beastly, reminds me of a Demarcus Ware. That thing lanky powerful rusher type. If 49ers can get some hits on Ben (who extends plays all the time) I think it'll workout in our favor.
I don't like the 49ers matchup on the back end either. Too much time for Steeler receivers and it isn't going to look good.

Without the man in the middle the niners aren't quite so scary. My bet is that ben plays.
I think the niners loose this week. If they pull off the win they're gonna need a stellar game from the RB's and from V.D. That's the only way to keep Pitt of of Alex Smith.

Runs will get stuffed and Ben will be throwing to Wallace and Brown all night. Im going to make a prediction of 2 picks atleast by the niners. If we can hang with the Ravens (in the first half), we certainly can tear apart the Steelers that are injury ridden right now. Also awaiting to see what happens to Harrison from that helmet to helmet on McCoy. My guess is its going to be a suspension this time.

Did you watch them play the Browns in the first half? Didnt look like a team that could beat the niners to be honest. As much as I was glad Ben came back to salvage my fantasy points, I will be using Matt Ryan next week.

I hope he throws... A LOT... I have Wallace and Brown on my fantasy teams. LOL.
They look awesome at times and terrible at times. As for offense... I think the steelers are leaps and bounds better than the ravens are... when they're clicking. The ravens are pretty much a one trick pony with Rice and the occasional bomb. That plays right in to the niners strength in shutting the run down. I think the steelers are a better match up with a healthy big ben (avoid the sack) and their receiver core is better and their run game is solid.
Niners heart and sole on the defense is out. Loosing your defensive play caller can not be over estimated. P. Will is one of the best in the NFL at his position. He's the game manager, the will, the heart, etc. Loosing a guy like that can be huge. Look at what happens to the steelers when big perm is out or the ravens without Ray Lewis.
Saying that... the entire game can change if Big Ben is out. No Ben and they get smashed. He plays and I think they (pit) have at least a 50/50 shot... I'd say more like 65/35.
