So there we are, folks. A fascinating day's running draws to a close with the immediate conclusion that Mercedes and Ferrari enjoyed by far and away the most impressive session. Are they now evenly matched at the front of F1? And if so, have they extended their advantage over the rest of the field?
It's always unwise to draw too many conclusions from pre-season testing but it's hard not to impressed by the amount of mileage Mercedes managed to produce straight out of the box and the pace of Sebastian Vettel in the 'revolutionary' Ferrari.
As for McLaren, they certainly look more reliable than they did a year ago but it's worth stressing that we believe that Jenson Button set his fastest time on the softs - and was still seconds down on the mediums-shod Ferrari.
Elsewhere, Manor enjoyed a very respectable session but there was limited running for Renault and Haas after Romain Grosjean's front-wing broke off just before lunch.
