Standing starts are meant only for the actual start of the race, IMO.
Having a standing start takes away all advantage of good performance early in the race.
Safety cars, especially in F1, already take away basically all advantage built up to that point.

If I was 2014 Rosberg/Hamilton or 2013 Vettel, I would hate a standing restart. But I'm not and I think it's a lot more exciting if they have to do another standing start.

yes standing re-starts are "exciting". And so would everyone getting out halfway through the race and flipping a coin to see whos car they switched seats with. But it all reeks of a certain desperation for whats otherwise completely boring racing.
NASCAR or WRC or WTCC dont have to do gimmicky **** to be exciting or entertaining, and its embarrassing when F1 does **** like this.
