I was hoping for standing restarts.

Standing starts are meant only for the actual start of the race, IMO.
Having a standing start takes away all advantage of good performance early in the race.
Safety cars, especially in F1, already take away basically all advantage built up to that point.

That's exactly the point. Get the group packed up as closely as possible. Doesn't get much closer than a standing start.

If I was 2014 Rosberg/Hamilton or 2013 Vettel, I would hate a standing restart. But I'm not and I think it's a lot more exciting if they have to do another standing start.

I'm glad they decided against the standing restarts and double points.

yes standing re-starts are "exciting". And so would everyone getting out halfway through the race and flipping a coin to see whos car they switched seats with. But it all reeks of a certain desperation for whats otherwise completely boring racing.

NASCAR or WRC or WTCC dont have to do gimmicky **** to be exciting or entertaining, and its embarrassing when F1 does **** like this.
