The OFFICIAL BAM COOK-OFF THREAD! Please sign up here!!!!
Hello all,
Like I mentioned in the other thread, this year at the bay area annual meet (Previously the Hammy meet) at lake Stafford in Novato we will be throwing our very first BAIC cook off competition! Since we have a lot of great cooks on board, what better idea then for a cook off? Below are the rules of the competition:
Here are the rules:
1. Garlic and chicken are the two Iron Chef ingredients, so each dish HAS TO HAVE both ingredients. Since they are the themed ingredients, each dish must taste like garlic and chicken, just like iron chef.
2. Everything has to be hand made, NO STORE BOUGHT PRODUCTS (With the exception of spices)
3. Each person will have a MAXIMUM of 1 hour to complete the said dish
4. Each dish will be judged on taste, and presentation.
5. The only things that you can bring that are pre-made are things that can't be cooked on a BBQ... However, it still has to be hand made, if you cheat and use store bought you are automatically disqualified.
6. If you have veggies and such, you must prepare them ON SITE, meaning that if you need to dice things, etc, you need to bring a cutting board and do it in your one hour of cooking time.
7. Teams are welcome, a maximum of 3 people per team. 15 teams total.
8. From novice to professionals, all are welcome to participate in this event, the only requirement is that you are an i-club member, and you have to own a subaru, no exceptions.
I'll have 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes for the folks... I'll hit up the vendors to see if they can provide some cool prizes.
I asked the moderators to close the other thread so that we can focus on the official thread.
If you want to sign up, do it now as I will only allow 15 teams to participate, and each team can have a MAXIMUM of 3 people.
So if you want to compete, please respond with your name, how many people will be on your team, and what you're going to prepare. If you don't know the dish just yet, you can come back later and post it then, but I need your name and a promise that you will in fact be competing. I don't want any "maybes", either you're in or you're out!
The event is being held on August 9th, and the cookoff will start at 12:30pm SHARP.
You are also allowed to bring propane grills, etc. Anything goes as long as you can prepare the dish ON SITE. You can bring whatever you need.
Our 3 judges will be the beautiful Electra, Fast Teacher, and PenguinPrincess.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.
You own a subie and you're a member here, that's good enough for me.
Got you down for the 1st spot. Any idea as to what dish you'll be preparing?
Keep in mind that everyone needs to make enough to where you can make small samples for everyone to taste.

"BAM", you rang?

**No, I'm not entering, I'm just making a dumb comment. LOL.
Now for a serious question. Would bread, pasta, or tortillas be allowed? It's hard to make those on the premises. Although one could be creative and turn veggies into pasta or just get spaghetti squash.

I'd really like to enter this but it might be tough to coordinate this along with our vendor booth, etc. I have some mean chicken recipes too
Hahha, you didn't strike me as the type to have a boy friend...

if I feel I have time, I MIGHT(key word) do dutch oven western one step biscuits, but I might not have time inside a hour.

can I judge?
can there be more of a variety besides chicken? I think after eating so much chicken, we might get sick of it.
Just my 2 cents
