I have no idea how much money you make, but it can't be that much if you're getting that much of a return.

So, I claim a 2.

Married filing single :Fed was like $338.
Married Filing Joint: Fed was $7500. State ended up being like $2500. went this route for obvious reasons.

Now, this won't be happening when my wife finish her CPA tests and starts working. Right now she's only worked part time, and only part of the year. When she's working fulltime I'm sure we will get taxed much heavier.

But regardless, I'm not really going to spend it. Not having my dad around means it's basically my mom and I working for a household of 7. With 4 homes, out property tax is $30k+. We don't have like crazy income to easily pay that every year. We have rent money from 3 properties, and we put away the couple grand left over after mortgage, but still... it's not easy. it's working out okay, but it's not easy.

So, maybe I'll spend a little, but I'm probably going to end up using a good chunk of that on property tax.

Yep. Pretty much. I had it down well when I was filing single, but the whole filing jointly is new.

Should be getting a little more than 2k. Either I'm going to be smart and pay down my credit card debt or go stage 2 this summer ...

I have the urge to buy suspension, but the pragmatic side of me says to pay my registration, get the car serviced, and save for a rainy day.

Indeed.

I have always claimed 0. If the feds need the cash then they have it. If at the end of the year they decide that they didn't need it and want to give it back to me, I'm not going to complain. It also really does motivate me to do my taxes and not wait until April.

I am getting back just a little under 2k this year. I plan to finally fix my wheels and get some better suspension.

You should try switching to "1" for next year and see what kind of impact it makes. Even at "1" you should still be getting money back, but you will have more money in your pocket on each paycheck. It's like giving yourself a raise without having to wait for your company to give you one.

Since we work for ourselves we just pay at the end of the year and yes we wont pay them till the 15th of april lol. No need for them to make interest off our money by sending to them early. I have also learned we pay so much less in taxes by just paying them one lump sum at the end of the year then every month.

Filing is the 0 or 1 makes a huge difference! Anywho, the higher the # up, I believe you keep more per paycheck and receive a smaller amount during tax time.. and lower the #, the higher you get back during tax time? Changes drastically with the amount of people you have to claim.

Crap gets so confusing that you have to PAY other people to file 'em for you... dumb things, they have to make it simpler than that.
