Or it means you make a lot of money... Did you know that if you work for a union that you can get money back for you union dues? most people don't for me that $650 a year! it is about knowing how do do you taxes and doing it right.

True...if you make "a lot of money" you are subject to AMT and do not have the write offs most people have.

I got a large return last year and decided to switch my Tax Withholdings this year to put more money in my pocket throughout the year as opposed to having the government holding on to all my money and then me having to wait for them to give it back to me at the end of the year.

I still have to do my taxes to see how much of an impact it made though, but just changing from "1" to "2" freed up about $80/month for me.

Heck consider last year where California paid out the first portion of the people that filed, but then later on said "Uhm, sorry we're out of money. So here's an IOU for your money. We'll get back to you at some point as to when we'll give it back to you".

No Thanks, I'd rather have my money than have to chase them down to get it.

Some people like loaning their money to the gov't.

It'd probably do more sitting somewhere collecting interest.

I keep trying to tell this to my wife. She wants a big return, I want the money in my check. We almost broke even on our taxes last year. We were gonna owe like $120 or something like that. But when I put in her school information and the cost of books we got $38 back. This year we will be in the same boat except she doesn't have a big school bill this year. But next year I'll have my little tax deduction ready to go.
