OEM keyless entry question
OEM keyless entry question
how much does it cost to get a keyless remote programmed for your car? i expect that this can only be done at the dealership? how much? My old keyless entry is acting faulty and believe it or not, I was cleaning my trunk and I found a pretty much brand new keyless remote tucked away under the trunk lining. I figure it must have been left my the previous owner.

that would depend on which dealership you go to.
Some of them charge a half hour...some (like me) give you a sheet of paper with the programming instructions on it, and if you STILL need help, we come out to your car and help program the remote.
It would also depend on what model year car you have and what remote you have with it.
If your remote is part #: H7110AS020 or 88036AE060 then the above applies to you.

What's a keyless entry?
Just kidding. Until last week, I didn't have the luxury of one. I got an alarm/keyless entry installed. Works pretty nice.

I programmed my remote a few months ago for my 99 rs. I have the paper with instructions in the car but I'm to lazy to get it right now. I'll scan it and post it to this thread tomorrow.

is it something like this?
Programming or Overriding the Alarm when you have lost the remote
Open driver's door.
Turn ignition key to 'On'
Press and *hold programming button* in (see diagram, button under dashboard)
After 15 seconds the the door locks will cycle 3 times. Do not release Programming button
Press lock (left) button the remotes to be programmed. The door locks will cycle one time.
Exit programming mode by releasing Programming button under dashboard and turning key to off.
i tried this but it didnt work for me. there was one time i was able to get it to cycle locks while holding down the programming button and hitting the lock button on the key fob but then it didnt work afterwards.
Yeah, that's it. I remember I was having trouble getting it to work in the begin but eventually I got it to work after about 30 minutes. I know that it took quite a few trys. Give it a few more trys, maybe you might get lucky.
