Oakland Police.

Been hearing how the Oakland Police is short on people and they don't have enough to support the city's population.

Check this out. Was in Oakland Chinatown area at around 8 last night. I came up to this intersection and see 4 to 5 cop cars sort of surrounding the intersection (well not really blocking it they were just parted there). The side of the street, there is this minor accident, not much damage to the vechiles involved as how i saw it. Guy with the car at the side of the street trying to fit his signal nights on.

Anyhow, I just though that might be the reason way they have a increasing crime rate is because most of the force are out doing stupid non sense work that doesn't really need their assistance in the fist place

Also on my way there.. there were puck *** kids standing at another corner of the interaction by the police station. maybe 20 of them.. pretending to be a fight club or something.. two guys in the middle pretending to be fighting... or maybe not pretending..

they should take some of the cops writing stupid parking tickets in the chinatown area and move them into East O somewhere

I was pulled off to the side of the street (not even engine turned off) and I'm not exagerating when I say fives police officers came off the side of the street on foot and swarmed my car and my friends. They told us to turn our cars off and they wrote us parking tickets.

I live in East Oakland(fruitvale district) during the week, so I see alot of what's going on. So sometimes I get irritated.

You are assuming that they were just sitting around doing nothing. There could have been a very good reason 4-5 cars were there. What you see while driving by isn't always what is going on.

If anything, OPD has a rough job. There's actually a shortage of police officers in Oakland atm. I wouldn't want to be an Oakland cop.

Could possibly be true. But if it was something big wouldn't there be something like fire trucks, ambulances and all that? Don't know. It seems like there were only one ambulance there.

if you were a cop in oakland, wouldn't you rather stop at china for a minor traffic incident?

exactly.

i'd rather give a modded car a ticket than have to risk my life in the rougher parts of fruitvale/international and the welfare of my family/wife/kids/house/car payments/etc, for 50K a year.

oh, i thought you were talking about the area over off of 12th and broadway.
still, there is no way to know without stopping and literally asking why there were there.

Actually, I heard these cops make almost six figures (90k+) after a few years and with all the overtime because of the lack of cops. Anyhow, modded car tickets should be the parking cops' responsibility (like they give tickets for license plate/registration violations), so that the real cops could actually do their EXPECTED job and reduce crime. Over 30 homicides and it's not even April yet...

I'm catless, but with no tint, a front plate and a stock muffler and I get no police attention at all....All of my insanity gets drained from my system once every six weeks at a track day....

I respect the job the police in this country do.....not the CHP, they are *******, but the regular policeman gets my respect.
