Not your average CHP Camaro...

I went this past weekend to the Cops-n-Rodders car show up at the CHP Academy in West Sacramento. Pretty cool show if you're into custom older rods and such.

As part of the show, CHP puts on a driving demonstration at their EVOC course (basically, a big road course) on site. Needless to say, those cops can REALLY drive

Got the following pic (click this link) of one of the Camaros coming off the course, not every day you see a CHP car doing a HUGE burnout

Bunch more pics, I'll link back here once they are all linked up.

Yep, an annual car show at the CHP academy. It is usually in late September or early October.

I don't know, they're cool cars but guess who paid for them? We did. I can think of a few places I'd rather see this money spent.

Plenty of folks did (yes, in newer cars). Are you sitting around looking for the black UN helicopters or something???

In other words, you're being a bit TOO paranoid

Cheaper than the Volvos they were using a few years back. I'd make a fair bet that the state of CA paid less than $20K each for those cars in 2002.

So I take it that they are now condoning huge burnouts?

My GF's brother-in-law is a chp officer... you see and find out some interesting things... went on a ride-along, the crown vic took a long time on a big straight away to reach a max of 130, those things have no pick up :P

funny how those new V6 impalas that police are using might get used by the chp. They suprisingly have more pick me up (cousin is a cop)

Few hints on those Camaros :
  1. They were stock. Only mods were a rollcage (for safety), lights, and paint. They are also used for CHP driver training the 99.9% of the time (i.e. every day/hour EXCEPT for 1 hour on one Saturday a year) on that track. They are work cars, plain and simple. And yes, by stock that means stock exhaust, stock interior (other than the cage), even stock LOWEST BIDDER street tires.
  2. Show Entry wasn't free . Chances are, your tax dollars weren't used to pay for those tires either. However, the money that the show attendees PAID would legitimately go towards it.

Please, use some common sense here folks!

it continues in cycles.
