And just look through the members, Im sure they all just came back from the whole foods where they bragged to the cashier about how un-vaccinated their kids are.

All the legit gluten intolerant people I know, a whopping 3, are men.

But the self diagnosis folks are plenty and proud. Sad...

I know one woman who was diagnosed with celiac, a friend's wife. She was like 300lbs. When they figured out she had it, she dropped wheat from her diet and lost around 150lbs in a very short period, so yes, they're out there. My chick was actually told by her doctor she does not have it, but she says that reducing gluten makes her feel better. I'd say it might be more of a dietary issue, eating more balanced, but I'm not going to tell her what to do.

I thought the disease was a joke as well and diagnosing it years back was a fcking nightmare!!! Having Celiac SUCKS!!! Having Celiac along with being Lactose intolerant is a cruel cruel joke!! Pretty much all of my favorite foods I'm not supposed to eat and my favorite beverage, Beer, I'm not supposed to drink. Well those things will be the death of me cause i still enjoy my favorite foods and Beer, sometimes together LOL. I just know what to expect and deal with it. My Mother has it as well only she is more sensitive to it.

All mammals are lactose intolerant Once you stop consuming dairy, you stop producing the enzymes to break it down.

Some of us are really lucky and our bodies stopped producing the enzymes early on in life while we were still consuming dairy on the daily and some of us were fcked from birth.

Yeah, I have a few friends like that too. I'm sensitive to certain foods too, like garlic, but I like garlic; so just like you, I'll eat it anyway and just deal with it.

Will say - I thought the video was hilarious. Made me literally LOL several times.

BUT - Gluten intolerance is a very real thing. I wish it wasn't. I was diagnosed by a triple board certified neurologist who's also a licensed nutritionist (dude is no joke).

People ask why Gluten intolerance has become so much more common. It's basically because of the GMO Wheat. Wheat today has WAY more gluten in it than wheat 50 years ago did. ... Because Gluten is delicious. Our systems are getting overloaded with the stuff.
This is why a lot of people who can't eat Gluten in the US, can in Europe - where GMO wheat is banned.

Celiac is a whole 'nother level where Gluten can actually kill you.

A neurologist is not a gastroenterologist. Not going to start a petty argument but there is no intolerance. You either have celiacs or you don't.

I dont want to start a petty argument but that's false. My wife and her sister both have an intolerance and I can assure you it's very real. Diet problems like this are never black and white, there's a lot of grey space in the middle.

Lowend has it right about the GMO gluten being the cause of the rise in intolerance to gluten. My brother-in-law also has an intolerance and will get sick if he has gluten here but when he's gone on vacation outside of the states he's able to eat the gluten no problemo.

The best summary I ever heard was at a Chicago comedy club...

First Comic: "Mammy, some kids in my class are gluten intolerant...what does that mean"
Second Comic: "It means you are upper middle class"

That said, yes, some people are Celiac and can have serious health issues. Others just needs to reevaluate their lifestyle as a whole instead of blaming some latest health thread trend. But I am all for whatever makes people reconsider their diets and try eating healthier.

EDIT: And, yes, where are the damn Celicas, Dong?! I totally misread that!

I will agree to this that the problem is the wheat itself. If we buy organic non GMO-flour, I can make things that don't cause her issues vs. if I made it with regular flour. Apetron is also correct in saying that you either have it or you don't, but the alteration of our core food is different than Celiac.

Its so bad for some that even if the meal is "gluten free" but the cook uses utensils or a pan that they are also using on other dishes that contain gluten, the eater can still get messed up from the gluten traces same as those with nut allergies.

Am I to assume you expertise comes from a doctorate in gastroenterology?
