Is this normal? Or do I need some new bushings/inserts?

Lately I have been noticing an odd clicking sound when I put load on the right rear. I looked into it today, rolled up a ramp until I heard the click, and found this...

Is there supposed to be that much play in the subframe bushings?

Yea but they get mushy over time and start to clunk. TIC sells stiffer ones- they are called outrigger bushings.

Hmm... TiC doesn't seem to have those for my car. Whiteline makes a set of inserts that I've been eyeing. Maybe that would help the situation?

Original stock bushings.

I do have a bigger sway bar and stiffer springs.

im thinking that added NVH from the stiffer setup could wear out the OEM bushings that much faster. im getting some loose ends in my scoob. and i know its the bushings down there both in front and reaer

I was just going to edit my post.. sorry, yea the TIC ones are actually two little doughnut shaped bushings. One goes on top and one on the bottom to take up the slack, you keep the stock bushing in. The whiteline ones sound like the same thing, they should stop the clunking.

The lack of bushing material? Yes that is more than normal for stock rubber bushings in order for the to return a comfortable ride.

I never really had noise, I just had slop. When I installed my outterrigger bushings, while for some it may have fixed the clunking issue, it actually tied my rear end of the tranny to a stiffer point, and I was actually able to hear my hard shifts with "clunks".

Now for your chassis, you do not really have an outterrigger, or well at least I wouldn't call that an outterrigger. More like the rear subframe.

What would fix your issue would be Whiteline's Rear Subframe Positive Traction Kit part #'s KDT902 OR KDT907, not both. 02 are the inserts that fill in the gap of your stock bushings, 07 are the actual bushings themselves, replacing stock and would require for you to drop the subframe and a press for installation. You will experience an increase of NVH.

p.s. ****ty BC's did that to your bushings.......
