Menlo Park PD, San Mateo PD, Belmont PD, San Carlos PD ( Sheriff ) all have "AR-15 type" weapons in their cars. On the vertical rack next to the shotgun. Now I'm not saying every car has them, but the ones I have seen do.

I am sure there are some that do, but I meant they don't typically get it out with them when they perform a traffic stop (unless they ran the plates and the guy is considered armed and dangerous, in which case they'd automatically call for backup IMO). Just like they wouldn't normally get out of the car with the shotgun. This was with pistols.

Just goes to show how far training can go. That dude had an AK47... read AUTOMATIC assault riffle with a .762 cartridge.
Those things RIP through everything. Talking the only safe place MIGHT be behind the engine block.
Yet they were able to take him down with their field weapons.
Mind you... he had one hicap round loaded and 54 rounds from 2 weapons is 2 reloads for each officer.
That is flat out impressive. Stoked that they took that POS down. I think that dude must have just got done watch "the town" or something.
side note... this isht is happening across the country more than people are aware. My brother in law is fresno p.d. His partner and he passed a man on the road. Then they hear a shot fired. They had a feeling that it was the guy they just passed so they flipped around and went after him. After he hung his gun out the window shooting at my brother in law he pulled over and stopped. Following well trained protocol they rolled up on the dude and DID NOT shoot him. He put his hands out of the window and surrendered. When they pulled him out of the car he had a vest on and his entire front seat was full of guns and ammo.
His intention that day was to take out some cops. For some reason he changed his mind.
Suicide by cop has been happening and won't stop happening any time soon.

Missed that. And yes, depending on the department it's pretty normal for all patrol vehicles to have one in the trunk. Even within the CHP.

1 mag swap if they have somewhere in the neighborhood of 18rd mags. You can kind of hear what sounds like the guy on the left swapping mags when he asks her if she's been hit, then he opens fire again. So if 18rd, that means presumably 18+1 emptied before the mag swap and another 18 for 37 if he emptied the second mag; plus however many the second officer fired. So 54 is definitely not out of the question. 3X 18rd mags = 54.

Yup. LEO don't have the same 10rd limit we mere mortals do
Dude was doing spray and pray though. He didn't aim, because it could have only taken 2, so it is a good thing he didn't. I don't think that was a jam he had, I think he was staggered a bit when he got hit. Then when he switched to 1 hand, he fired a few more before they put him down. EFFING crazy that all that happened in literally like 30-40 seconds.

(just messing with you)I saw this on CNN this morning, I nearly choked on my coffee at the part where the guys gets out spraying lead. I say we need to ban tinted windows so cops can see what the suspect is doing...and definitely ban books so this can be prevented in the future (heavy sarcasm).

Yea his plans went out the door when he got pulled over for running a stop sign. What a dumb reason to get caught for, especially with all that gear and media inside the car....... I say good thing he was an idiot and got lit up here, instead of completing his goals and harming other people at a very unpredictable time in the future.
