no headlight ticket

so for the last 3 years and 3 months i've been used to daytime running lights and not worrying about turning off my headlights ever. as i explained in my other thread my car is kaput for the time being, i was driving my old 1987 saab 9000 turbo. as i left pho i got pulled over for driving half a block without my headlights on.

it took 20 minutes or so to convince the cops i was not drinking, not going to the street races, and for him to write me the ticket.

my question is: how much do you think this will run me? TIA for your input.

edit: also is it a moving violation? i asked the cop if it will be a point on the license and he said no. but i'm not so sure.

Dude, that super sucks. Unfortunately, this is a mixed bag considering that it's a "you should have known better" kind of ticket. Good luck Ian.

take it to court and explain how you just forgot to turn them on...you just pulled out of a parking lot...and you forgot. Not like you were driving for miles and couldnt see. There must have been some light out, or I am sure you would have turned them on right away.

DUMB *** COPS!!!!!!!!

Yeah, its a moving violation. I almost hit some dumb *** woman the other night... Black car in a not-so well lit area.... Didn't see her at all. It was wonderfull. I got next to her and gave her the signal to turn on her lights... what does she do? She gets scared and steps on the gas. So, going like 60 in a 35 without lights. I hope she gets hit by a train.

He probably pulled out his Glock and fired a few warning shots in the air.

Turn my lights off and then on... then give her the hand signal like you are turning on your lights, and point to the front of her car.

A missile probably would have worked better.
