Newest victim of 27151 (CA Veh. Code - modified exhaust)
Thanks guys, I took a look at those threads and I don't think my exhaust is louder than 95 db although I remember some time back, someone brought a decible meter and measurements were done at Krisky Kreme in UC.
Maku and Calsodier I'll measure my exhaust when I get home.
My friend is SJPD and he said he'll sign it off so I'm just gonna get it tested after the ticket is done.
I care less about the noise and just like the looks. Also, I didn't want to tell him it's legal and risk having him find something else on the car
Thanks again.

that front plate slowing people down.......totally bogus unless the license plate was half an inch in front of the FMIC

I have a FMIC, front plate, and never pulled over not having front plates.
And my FMIC, cools just fine. -freddie

I'm running a Tanabe Hyper Medallion FYI although it should still clear the 95 db limit. I was wondering if anyone has a silencer to let me borrow or is willing to sell so I can get my car tested by the state ref? Also, has anyone tested their car with this exhaust (no turbo back) without a silencer and passed?
I'm in San Jose but may be willing to drive an hour out to pick up.
Thanks

I have that same exhaust and there is no silencer available for it, besides, it will pass the 95dB limit quite easily, I wouldnt worry about it.

Will cops give you any kind of ticket for exhaust besides noise level? I.e. no cats? I've heard of cops looking under hoods for illegal mods but I have no idea what they're actually looking at. It's hard for me to imagine that all cops are certified smog inspectors and they go looking to see what exhaust mods you've done.
