New Tires! Wah-whoo!

It should be obvious from my enthusiasm that it's been too long since I bought new tires.

I had had my last set quite a while when the old car was totaled. The '02 WRX I bought came with a set of fairly new potenzas (oh goody), which I have now finally managed to KILL.

It had been so long that I had forgotten about the "new tire beard" effect.

I'm crusin' back to work late this afternoon on my new BFG KDWSs down our windy little road, and I'm just driftin' like a sumnabich: all those little casting-whiskers act like rollers untill they wear off.

Once I figured out what was goin' on, it was a blast.

I'm lookin' forward to testing them out on gravel next week!
Mike

PS: How much should I expect to pay for a (non-air) torque wrench? I bought five for a full sized spare, so I'll be rotating them a lot.

torque wrench is gonna run you about $70. If you go all crazy status you can pay $170-200 for a professional non air torque wrench.

But you'll do just fine for about $70.

I can definitely relate to the feeling of getting a new set of tires. I finally junked my set of RE92s after 25k and switched to a set of Azenis. What a difference!

For the torque wrench, you can go the cheap route that I did and get one for $10 from Harbor Freight: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...itemnumber=239 or get a decent one from Sears for $70: http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/produ...id=00944595000
