Heat capacity. For 45-60 seconds the 615s do fine, but once heated on our heavy cars, they can get greasy and grip is compromised

RE01R for optimal grip

They can last 5k or 15k depending on how hard you drive

T1R doesnt not compete at all with the RE01R, RS2 or Dunlop Z1

i have RS2's on my miata, my miata cant drift anymore they are pretty nice and $30-60 cheaper than 615 depending on size
I was at the shop the other day and I asked about tires. This is what they said: it really depends. It depends on what you are doing, what you are driving, your driving style, and your preferences.

As for canyon runs and autoX being different? Elevation changes. That was the single thing that I felt uncomfortable with at THill. The changes in elevations as well as not being able to see certain things.

I don't auto-x, but I've heard that for auto-x the 615s are still the better choice. With the way the 615s heat cycle and harden up, I can't imagine they'd be better for canyon runs/daily driving in general

I think the thing that discourages me from buying the RT615 is people telling me that after 5k miles, the grip becomes crap. If you go onto vendor's sites and stuff, people comment that the RT615 pretty much crap out.

I had settled for 615s when DTD said they no longer carried hankooks, but after reading how greasy they get on the track and the poor life, I sold them before even mounting them. I also found out DTD can special order the hankooks and I get $100 my next order because I was lied to

Budget will probably be a factor as well. If you can't spend $1k on tires, then you can't spend $1k on tires. If you aren't planning to do motorsports or other spirited driving, there is no point in spending more money high performance tire when a midrange tire would be fine.

eggzachary. There may be certain tires with the best grip in the world, but if you dont need the best grip in the world its a waste of money.

Hankook seems like more of a professional quality brand, despite the cheaper price. Falken is just too ricer for me.

I was thinking about ordering the RS2's but after reading a few reviews, I might change my mind. Price was really a factor as well. I am looking at the RE-01R's. As good as a tire as they are, I do have a budget. I can't spend more money than I have. The price of the RE-01R's is almost twice as expensive as the RT-615's or the RS2's. Set of RE-01R's is like $600ish, while the RE-01R's are close to $900. For someone that has a part-time job, $300 is a lot of money.

You kind of have to weigh your options and try to make an educated decision.

you can get a lot of opinions from the reviews on discounttire.com but you have to weed out the ones that have only driven like 500 miles or just say "these tires are awesome" or just "these suck, don't buy them" there are actual reviews written after 10,xxx-20,xxx miles that actually say WHY the tires are good or bad, those ones are helpful

Might want to cross off the RE-01R's. That size from TireRack:

$219.00 x 4 + Shipping

=$1000+
