On to new horizons. :-(

This happened a few months ago. I`ve had it since 2001 and after taking care of it so much, this happens. An elder couple decided to "gun it" to try and make it across all four lanes as I was going 45. I tried swerving to avoid the collision, but ended up clipping their Camry in the side rear and hard enough to send them flying and knocking down a hotel sign. Thank God no one was hurt. They`re insurance did cover all of my expenses though. Bummer.

I`ll still be around the Subie community though.

at first look, you should be able to fix all that. Buy it back from the insurance and do t back up?

*edit* and I am sorry the old stupid couple lived. People like that need a dose of Darwin.

Sorry to hear it man. Yeah, seems fixable, but insurance doesn't always see it the same way. Did they total it or you've just decided to do something new? Clean WRX.

I had ALMOST exactly the same accident just the other day - dude in a beat up old 300ZX decided he wanted my lane without noticing I was already using it. He nearly pinched me into the curb. I credit the brembos and an untrusting nature of other drivers that there was no contact.

Sorry to see that happened, nice rex you had there. I'd vote keep it and put everything into a L/RS if it is indeed not fixable.

That's really tough... and +1 with it looking repairable

If you just want to take the payout and get something new... Part Out???

I was thinking of buying it back, but their insurance gave me a little over 10k for it plus I ended up parting some small things at the shop just before they totalled it. I didn't think it was a bad deal, but it'll never replace the sentimental value.

You're right. They told me that the repairs would cost a more than it's worth, but did end up getting a nice sum for it.
Yeah, no matter how careful of a driver anyone is there's always someone who thinks driving rules don't apply to them.
