Needing guidance

So, I am tuning for e85 and my clutch is slipping. Stuk between the decision of a used(low low miles) exedy stage 2 and save about $250 or a new stage 1. Shooting for 360/400 with all my supporting mods.

I've done the reading and know that the 2 will be more aggressive with more bite and chatter and a little less lovely to daily drive. So do I save the $$$ (for the GS TMIC) and get the stage 2 or just go for the 1.

I live/work in Vacaville area and commute to sac every once in a while for work. does anyone in our area have the stage 2 and how does it handle for Bay Area/sac driving.

This post would hold true if he was talking about power/engine 'stages' but exedy does list their clutches as a stage: EXEDY Stage 2 - Clutch kits for Street and Track Performance

Go with a new stage 1 clutch. Your transmission will thank you.

Stage 1 is not meant to hold that kind of power. He'll blow through that clutch in no time.

Stage 2 at least. Hell I'm going to run a stage 2 on far less hp than that. I've got it in my garage. Stage 1 is fine for stock or close to stock. I wouldn't run one at anything over 275hp personally.

If you need a weaker clutch than your power needs to save your transmission then you shouldn't be driving a manual transmission in the first place.

I'm at 273/241 on mikes dyno. 105k stock clutch. Holds plenty. The 2.5L clutch has a higher capacity. The stage 2 exedy is a POS three puck that's not a forgiving clutch.

He's on the newer 5 speed also. So Tyler it'll take the beating of a heavier clutch but a streetmax rps will suffice unless he's launching everywhere. That's when the tranny will give up. The clutchmaster fx250/300 is another good choice.

You also didn't drive that car for 95% of those miles. Grandpa did. And you haven't always been at those numbers if I'm not mistaken?

My stage 1 has about 135k miles on it. All beaten to ever living **** by me. I was planning on doing a 300/300 build and the stage 1 isn't really meant for that.

I've never had a problem driving a 3 puck? Not even my retardedly stiff ACT one.

I'd go with one of your other 2 recommendations over a Stage 1.

Actually he sold it to me at 68k so. Almost 40% by me lol.

It's been at similar numbers since he tuned it in 04 at like 10k.

Still... that's a lot less than 360/400. A lot less.

Torque especially.

well my point being the newer generations got a higher torque capacity stock and the after market ones are increased as well on their capacity.
