need a place/location for a lakeside picnic

So my friend lost a bet and now he has to take his girl out to a lakeside picnic and then to the SF zoo....my question is....Where would be the best spot to have a lakeside picnic between San Jose and San Francisco?? It doesn't have to be at a designated picnic area...maybe just a grassy knoll...but it does have to be by a lake... then to the SF zoo... any suggestions?

Exactly. Youngins nowadays don't understand the "benefits" that come along with a truly romantic date.
