Your insurance won't cover it? That's a bummer. I got mine covered under comprehensive damage from road debris.

I think there was a group buy on windshields a while back - anybody remember the thread?

I need one too.

I've been nailed a few times by the same "kind" of trucks dropping **** on the road a few times in the past week....just as I'm coming on the freeway.....blah....change lanes..see it fall out and kick up..I"m like...oh no. And it made that sound..the one you know it broke through and not just bounced off. Right in the MIDDLE damn it.

I'd like to get some 05 glass..with the black dots that run across the top. Little nicer glass.

Some sources for REAL OEM glass replacement would be cool. I've had a couple replaced on the sides of my car now and neither of them turned out to be OEM..they were "OEM QUALITY". boo.

I want OEM and not like $500.

pissed man. There goes my V7 JDM wheels. bah.

I had a WS installed not long time ago. It is not OEM, but is made by FORD OEM supplier manufacturer. Very good quality. I think I paid $260 installed. I can arrange a GB if we get like 5 people.

Get a replacement made by PPG... supposedly best in the auto glass industry.

I replaced the windshield on my 03 WRX Sedan a few weeks ago. Cost for the OEM windshield was about $630 with total for the job coming in around $770. Low-cost aftermarket glass is around $230. Comprehensive coverage on your insurance will cover the cost minus whatever your deductible is. Claims to replace windshields damaged or destroyed by road hazards will NOT adversely affect your insurance rates! Windshields must be replaced if the crack is in the driver's line of sight, and must be replaced and not repaired if the crack is larger than a quarter. You have a right to ask your insurance company (mine is State Farm) for OEM instead of the cheaper glass. Remember that the windshield on a Subie is more than just something you look though, it's also a structural, load-bearing part of the car body.

I got mine installed at the dealership along with replacing my AC condensor all in one shot. I'm glad my insurance covered it. I wasn't about to unload 2K just to get these things repaired and replaced.

I just had mine done last Friday at the shop beside MPJ/GB for $140 installed. Seems fine so far. No leaks and it was clean. I know the shop is inky dinky, but the price was good.

Lightbulb

i jas had my windshield replace last month or so.
I had the same problem with insurance and found a vietnamese guy doing it for less than $200.
he uses brand new windshield and will drive to your house.
I was bit worried at 1st about his work, but i think it looks OK and would recommend it to i-club ppl.
PM me for his number. I believe he's from san jose or milpitas (south bay).

not me...that's the bummer part. I want OEM glass but I'm not paying the deductible or full cost...either way cost me $500 or more. Booo.

So I guess I'll just have to get the highest quality knock of stuff I can get a hold of.
