Need to move a car from Oakland to Santa Rosa!!

Just a small Datsun roadster but tow trucks are $40 hook up+5 bucks a mile! so that would be about $300 for one tow!

Anyone have any other ideas on a cheaper alternative??

get a 1 year member ship to AAA plus, it will be like $50 or something like that and that comes with 3 services calls.... each allowing u to tow a car up to 100 miles to the location of ur choice.

u should just upgrade, it would be cheaper then paying someone on the board $100, a LOT cheaper...atleast I think so...

The AAA web site says you need to join AAA for 1 year before being able to upgrade to AAA+? Is there a shortcut to join?

yeah this was my understanding, or else everyone would just upgrade as soon as they needed a long distance tow

I tried to upgrade to AAA+ over the phone when my car broke down in Jackson (160 miles away). They said no, and it would cost me $700 to tow !

I ended up renting a U-haul trailer, which meant I had to rent a 15' box truck to pull it with.

Penske was just as ghey, you can only take a car trailer one way. Which means that you cannot return the car trailer in the same area as you got it from
. I confirmed this with the local office, and through the main office!

Oh yea and certain u-hauls in the bay area will tell you that you can't hook up a u-haul truck to a u-haul trailer! (Yes it was the manager who told me this!)
