No reason to go SATA unless you like the cable features. Its no faster than ATA100, as none of the disks right now can hit those speeds reliably.

Meh. SCSI has few advantages over SATA for 99% of uses. If, for some reason, you HAVE to have mroe than 4 drives per controller channel, or NEED 15k RPM drives, get SCSI. All of the other neat features of SCSI (like surviving bus resets, tagged queuing, non exclusive bus use, etc). are available in SATA.

you can build a low end athlon64 system for cheap. like an a64 3200+ or something. the thing i dont like about the dells is their proprietary crap. if something breaks, like the powersupply, you gotta buy a dell powersupply cause normal ones dont fit in the case. (found out the hard way when my friends dell computer had a powersupply crap out).

the 1 good thing about dells are the deals on their lcd monitors. they get crazy cheap if u troll techbargains.com. like 20" widescreen for ~$450.

We're surrounded by azn computer places here in the city and have to say that the margins are so low now, that Dell still comes out on top. Can't beat a Dell. Between the free upgrades and free shipping... cant go wrong.

HKB... I think you can buy third party power supplies on the net for Dells now.

I have the SC400 and run it as a desktop for almost a year. It's solid and very quiet. One of the big diff between the 420 (PCI-E) and 400 (8xAGP).

damn dood, that is a freakin sweet *** deal. Swap out the CD drive for a DVD-R and add 512MB, and another bigger HD then you would be set!
