Drive over Hwy. 17, take a look at the ocean, drive back.

Only way you can possibly stay within an hour of San Jose.

I'd avoid super twisty roads with a girl unless she's really into it, and make sure you have Dramamine!

+1. Don't try to impress a girl with how "cool" your car is, they could care less.

I'd say head down on 17 (watch out for CHP) and spend some time at the Capitola Village or somewhere in Santa Cruz. Maybe drive north on 1 for a bit and grab some lunch in Davenport at the Whale City Cafe.

You won't have to worry about chp because there will be too much traffic to do any kind of speeding..I'd advise on not going to sc because it'll take up to an hour to get over 17 because everyone from san jose drives in and it clogs up the whole entire city...not to mention the drive back after will also be backed up

id advise not to go to mt hammy unless she likes cars and a bumpy ride. but great place for one on one time haha.

yeah hmb right now is pretty foggy looking out my window. but mavericks is a great place here. and then a walk along the bluffs up there is good anytime foggy or not, just bring a thick layer of clothes.

Hmm, it's interesting that all the suggestions I see are WAY over an hour out of San Jose.

Ha since there were no other suggestions besides mt hammy and hmb, I'd assume you are talking about half moon bay..From 280/17 its about 30min to highway 92, and another 15min to highway 1, that's WAY less than an hour? (I drive it weekly)

46 minutes leaves you 14 minutes of drive/stop/enjoy the scenery time. Time flies when you're having fun...

Yeah, I can get to HMB in about 45mins, straight shot on 280 to 92. (That's if I'm driving normal)

Depending on what part of san jose your coming from you could go up highway 9 then take a right on CA35 (skyline) some very nice spots to see both ocean and the valley. there are a few good places to eat off of CA84 (woodside road). 84 also will take you back to 280 to head back south. just another idea. all suggestions above are about the same, this is just another option.

You can always head up to Saratoga, take a stop at the springs and maybe get a bite to eat. Then perhaps a road trip to half moon bay? You can make a day of it and you wont ever be more than 45 mins outside of San Jose.

Also, let me just tell you this... Chicks DIG saratoga and los gatos, and nice roads are abundant in that area.
