Where are you located? I will help for free being that I love to work on cars. I have replaced my stock pads with Mattix and am currently running Goodridge s/s brake lines. You will need approx. 3 pints of new brake fluid to properly bleed the system when replacing the brake lines. Pm me with dates you are available.

I'm located in between San Jose and Fremont. If you would like to come to my place, anyone is more than welcome to or we can do it elsewhere.. I just don't have all the tools. I'm typically free on Fridays. This upcoming Friday, I'm free after 2pm so if anyone would like to meet up then, that would be good. Saturdays, I'm free before 12pm and Sundays i'm free after 5pm. I have school Mon-Thur so I wouldn't be able to do it then, unfortunately.

And thank you for offering to help out. I really appreciate it. I'll feed anyone who helps teach me how to work on my car. I'll even bake cookies & brownies to fatten you up lol

Anna, honestly your front brake pads have 50% life left on them, you don't need to change them.
I know you say they squeal and/or are noisy, that is normal. The StopTech pads are going to be just as noisy or noisier.
I don't know if you actually looked at the technical data chart for your new pads versus your Axxis ULT pads..

Here is the Axxis Technical Data chart:
http://www.axxisbrakes.com/tech.html

Here is the Stoptech Technical data chart:
http://www.powerslot.com/partsapp/de...&categories=31

The Stoptechs have a shorter life and are harder. You will have more noise..

Brake noise for the Axxis is rated at 7 and the Stoptechs are rated at 4.

1 = brakes unbearably noisy

10 = brakes noiseless

Well, dad, the thing is it's making noise that it didn't make before.. And it's reallllyy baddd.. I swear it's like a dying hyena screaming. Eric said that it might need something called anti squeek paste... i might just do that but he said i need to take the the apart in order to apply it. so either way i'll have to take the shims off the back of the pads to apply the grease, reassemble it, and put it back together. but i don't feel comfortable touching my car without having someone supervise me. i am so the newbie lol

I had Project Mu NS pads before and they were probably the worst as far as noise is concerned. Every time I'm in an indoor parking lot and the brakes were cold, I'd scare people shizzless lol. Each person would flinch, cover their ears, and look at where the sounds coming from. I'd be so embarrassed but at the same time I'm laughing, at myself and at the strangers The squeaks literally registered over a 100 dB inside a parking lot hahaha

How so?

I just happen to be very close with my friends, and we all are like family so we have some we call mom and dad, some we call uncle and auntie, some we call brother and sister, and some we call cousins.

It's not literal, it's just we are close enough to one another, and comfortable enough that we are able to see each other as family.

Ballz is not my "real" dad, but he is pretty much like a father figure who is also an awesome friend who watches out for me. I'd be lucky enough if I did have such a caring father.

hahaha yeah..

i just don't appreciate when people have to make unnecessary comments such as "oh only someone who drives 'such and such car' would know what they're talking about" that kinda deal. it's an invalid statement which can make a person look ignorant, if you know what i mean.

For example:

it also doesn't help when i know that 'certain' person doesn't drive a suby, yet puts that they do, but instead drives a dsm and only commented to try to make someone who i consider my friend, as well as anyone who doesn't drive a dsm, look bad.

well, anyway, back to what this thread was about... i plan on working on my car this upcoming weekend if it is possible. so if anyone wants to help out, that'd be awesome. just let me know if anyone is interested. i'd really appreciate the help.

Yep. Never could quite understand that, given that I thought they were there to move between the two. But of course I don't know what I'm talking about.

And to the OP: use brake anti-squeal rather than grease behind the pads. It's available from your local Kragen (etc.) It's tacky when applied and won't move around. And won't lubricate the surface of your brake pads if it does.
