To let you know, I offered to cater the event (with volunteer help for serving) last year for a figure of $10/plate. This would include tri-tip/chicken, potato salad, a green salad, and a dessert of some sort. The only thing it didn't include was drinks, for which they calculated two dollars/person. This year, I'd have to re-calculate the figures, but it wouldn't be much more, depending on food costs in the month in which we hold the BBQ.

I'm not going to bother digging up the thread from last year, but the response from everyone was exactly like your "bring food from home" blah, blah, blah crap. I was willing to take some money out of my pocket if I had to in order to help make the event a bit more organized, and work with the people to put on a nice orderly food service that fed everyone, didn't run out of food, and contributed to having a good meet. It was RESOUNDINGLY REJECTED by the majority of people, who cried and whined (just like your posts) about $17 (including the $5 parking) for the meet.

With your whining and complaining about money this year, I'm sure I'm not going to be so inclined to offer my help. Novato's park has everything we need - we just did a drive through and took pictures. Not that anyone's interested, but here they are:

Horseshoe pit (could be used for check-in/organizer spot)

Shade - plenty of shade - open space - several acres of open space to picnic, set up pop-up shades, etc.

Picnic tables - seating for ~80 directly by the BBQ area - although we tend to spread out - see ACREAGE above

BBQ pit - enough space to run a nice little grilling operation

Another view of picnic tables

More picnic tables

Electricity - plenty of it!! Several different locations

Running water!!

Fire Extinguisher - handy to have along

Another shot of the open space

More (different) open space

Parking lot close by

restrooms close by - wheelchair accessible for those concerned

Overflow parking - nice and level

More overflow parking - nice and level

Wow.....stunning. Grass parking ftw for photo shoots. That's nicer looking than hammy actually, but I think Daniel chose hammy already, unless he sees these pics and puts up a Hammy vs Novato vote or some such. The BBQ area is actually nicer than hammy because it's cemented, and covered, with nice seating. Still going to be a "bring your own chair" event at any location, but that's not a problem. We could always do a north bay meet at that novato park hehe.

I will help. Normally I've always helped set up our acura west coast meets. Last year I paid for the park permits in Oceano (pismo) where we had our 100~ car BBQ (this was a cali meet, not west coast meet). I'm not working and have TONS of time to scout out places with you, or by myself.
So I'll leave it up to you if you want me to be your right hand man to help

Yeah, honestly they had a concert there last year - it handled a LOT more than 300 cars - and enough of a venue we could manage nicely. Vodka, there is a nice road or two to get there, plenty of nice roads to take a few miles, and have KILLER top-of-the-valley shots for photographing cars, shade - plenty of it - open space for at least 500 to 1000 people - I'm talking acreage.

Irish, I can't take credit for the pics - that's all Silke (Pleiad7) - her talent in telling a story that might convince some people to take a second look.

Looks like a great spot Greg. From google maps the paved lot shows very few parking spots. Is there a dirt lot?

The last two photos show a couple of acres of parking lot (grass/dirt), the road's wide enough to park on both sides, there's a secondary parking area that we can use - I can get more detailed shots tomorrow when I'm going to LIC to get some service done.

I'll try and make a trip over there and get some photos of the place to see how that is parking wise, I couldn't tell from the google satellite image how much parking was there. Then people have Mine's and Hammy to drive if they choose to return to SJ or go to the meet up that way. Also the Central Valley people can take Corral Hollow/Tesla Rd to get there. The only disadvantaged people for a drive there are the North Bay people, but once there they could go for a drive on Mine's, which imo is a better/easier drive than Hammy.

I'm off tomorrow (well...MLK's day), I can hop by Lake Del Valle and take some photos...let me know if that place will be considered, if not I don't want to waste my gas to go there...

It'll make planning a lot harder for me if we choose that place... A LOT harder.

The great thing about Hamilton is that its so close to me that planning is simple. (Planning for food, supplies, events). Getting everything up Hammy is easy since my close by friend uses his truck to get all the 2000 drinks up there, I wouldn't be able to use the said truck for the north bay...

If we buy food here's the numbers we're looking at:

1. 2,000 cans and bottles (soda and water)
2. Meat for 500 people, around 450lbs of meet
3. Bread, buns to go with that
4. Chips, snacks, cookies
5. beans, rice, etc

All of that = into A LOT of stuff!!! Getting it all up north would be tricky.

I'm also very unfamiliar with that place and its offices so I dont know how much it costs to rent the place, etc.

I love the way it looks and am not trying to sound negative... just realistic. This place brings on a lot of unknowns and I hate unknowns. I just hope its all as smooth as hammy.

Sorry for being all negative, just a little worried... which is what I do best, hehehheh
