Need advice on insurance claim
I had an accident (my fault).
But when my ins agent saw it, he only asked the body shop to fix the body.
I got my car back and there are problem with steering.
I called the agent up and scheduled another appt for inspection. When he heard the body shop telling him that the steering rack was damaged he doubt it and asked me to send my car back to dealer for further inspection.
Now here's the tricky part. Just a few days before the accident I went to the dealer to check on the wheel since I heard some noise. And they said my lower arm was slightly damaged (possibly by hitting curbs occassionally).
My agent seems intending to blaim my steering problem to that one. But I SWEAR the steering problem was only there after the accident.
What do you think I should do?

Your insurance agent's #1 priority is to make/save money for the company. It's not surprising that he would try to get away with the least expensive option.
You should check out your policy. Most policies allow you to have the estimate and work done at any shop, but the insurance may only guarantee satisfaction through their own "partner shops" (whch shouldn't matter because all reputable body shops will guarantee their own work).
Don't let your insurance walk all over you and for God's sake don't let them tell you what is or isn't wrong with your car! Get your car fixed to your satisfaction.

Just curious...what insurance company do you have? I have Farmers and they suck bigtime! I got into an accident almost a month ago, and till this day my car has not been worked on or even inspected yet. It's just sitting at the shop. And yes..I went thru an insurance approved bodyshop.
I suggest you call up your agent and complain. If that doesn't work, I think a lawyer would help motivate them into being more helpful. Good luck!

Whatever you do, don't let the insurance company get away with anything less than 100% satisfaction, as long as it is covered by your policy. I was involved in an accident, and the person who was at fault had Farmers. I had a 9 month battle with them and even had to get my corporate attorney involved. Even at that, they only reimbursed me for around half of my rental cost (over 3 months of rental). Luckily all the damages were covered by my insurance company and I didn't have to deal with any of that cost. Just let it be known that an insurance company will rip you off any chance they get, so you cna't let them even have a centimeter or you'll never recover that ground.

Hey, another suggestion is for you to threaten your insurance agent by telling him you're gonna call the BBB. Then call the BBB anyways. Hehe. That's what I did today.
Farmers!

BBB= Better Business Bureau. Basically when you have problems with a company, they come in and regulate. Here's their URL, you can even file a complaint online. http://bbb.org
