The paint on my rear bumper is cracking after someone bumped into my car when it was parked. Probably going to have to get the bumper repainted.

sucks, but eventually it was gonna happen. i got one in a parking lot with nothing around me. I walked out and there was a HUGE dent right on my driver side fender. It still sucks to see it, but you learn to deal with it.

I parked my car in the middle of a huge parking lot which had no car within 40 meters. After 2 hours when I came back, the lot is still 99% empty but there were two cars parking on my left and right. why didn't they just park somewhere else

I'm just afraid that it will extend outwards and get worse.

Any advice as to what I can do about it? How to stop the cracking? Is there anything i can do to stop this from getting worse without getting the whole door repainted?

Damn, I hate people soooo damn much. I even park away from people and in spots that are blocked so that no one can open their doors into me. This looks like the work of the corner of a shopping cart. Damn, I wish I would have been there when this happened!

Any advice is appreciated.

Jesus dude I thought you were a fallen subie member and here I am hoping "God I hope he or anyone else wasn't injured," but instead it's a measly "ding." We all try our best to take care of our cars but sometimes people are just idiots and open their door without a care in the world. Not to mention those who leave carts out on lot so there's chance it'll roll to another vehicle.

If you don't want to risk the aforementioned, get a beater and use that for DD.

My car had nothing but scuff marks/dings on hood, dings/dent on doors ( parking lot ) and chipped paint as a result of city and mostly highway driving ( 58k+ ).

I'm not trying to be a ***** but once you've flipped your car 2x, destroyed it, and currently suffering from upper back pains, cuts and bruises come back and post "My Subie Got P3wnd"

This is nothing it should buff out:

yes the motivational posters were done by me, pics are taken by friends. Awesome driving at it's finest. It's to die for

There's a lot more things to worry about than a "ding"

Take care man

06 and 08 are Aspen White and am sure in prior years as well.

07 and 09 are Satin White Pearl ( Legacy/Outback/B9 )

You obviously don't know my history.

My 06 WRX wen't head on into a tree at 35-40mph, got a good case of neck pain from that... 2 months later I got an new STi and within a month of having it some big dodge ram pickup side swipes me on Morrison canyon road almost killing me and my wife... Damage from bumper to bumper on one side. 11k worth of damage.

So trust me, I have my fair share of pwnages.

How is paint cracking from a deep ding not getting pwn3d? To me and every other member here it's a matter of pwnage, trust me. Maybe not to you...

There is no such thing as a bang for the buck bodyshop... you get exactly what you pay for.
All of the paint is basically the same cost. What you are really paying for is prep-work. The more prep you pay for the better the paint is gonna come out

Personally, I like "The Works Autobody" in Santa Clara
and Michael and Company in San Jose

This man speaks the truth. If you want to get a cheap paint job, you need to do all the prep work yourself, all the sanding and even priming it... This is difficult to do if you don't know what you're doing. This is the time consuming part and what costs the most. If you do everything correctly and have the car prepped when you take it in, all you pay for is the paint and the actual painting of the car which will be a lot cheaper then if you have them do everything.

If you want a cheap job where they do everything for you, you're going to get what you paid for. If you're willing to deal with a crappy paint job, then thats good for you, but if you can't deal with it, then don't cut corners.
