My subie got pwn3d! :(

Dammit! Today I noticed a nasty little ding on my pass side door that is deep enough to make the paint crack just a tiny bit. The ding is about the size of a quarter and the paint is cracking from center with 3 small cracks extending outwards... about 1.5-2mm long which is enough to **** me off! I'm just afraid that it will extend outwards and get worse.

Any advice as to what I can do about it? How to stop the cracking? Is there anything i can do to stop this from getting worse without getting the whole door repainted?

Damn, I hate people soooo damn much. I even park away from people and in spots that are blocked so that no one can open their doors into me. This looks like the work of the corner of a shopping cart. Damn, I wish I would have been there when this happened!

Any advice is appreciated.

happens to us all brotha. I have the same thing on my rear driver side door. It pains me. For a temp solution i filled it with touch up paint. Not sure what to do in the long term. If you figure it out lemme know so i can do the same. Would suck to have the crack spread or to have to repaint the entire door.

i had a tiny rock chip last week and each day, it grew a few centimeters. it's over a foot now and goes up, then to the left. =(

someone either dropped a dead deer off in the middle of 580 near pleasonton...because in the midde of all that concrete, the car in front of me ran over the dead deer and shot all sorts of deer meat and bones into my grill, hood scoop, radiator, and even some bone chipped my rear quarter panel.

my passenger side front fender is chipped to the metal because some asshat decided to not want to sit in traffic and take the shoulder forcing up rocks and debris from the shoulder onto everyone's right side of their cars.

my bumper has been repained twice and i gave up after that (now it's super pockmarked) and I've given up.

the point is...jsut leave it till you REALLLY want to repaint the whole door.

I have no clue, but let me know when you figure it out:

Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way for me to get this fixed? Recommended body shops in the south bay?

Damn, it's incredible how crappy subaru paint is... even the body shop I went to to get my driver side repainted after someone scraped the side of my car mentioned how subarus are notorious for their crappy paint, though he mentioned how Mitsubishi was far worse.

I'm pretty sure that my 2000 2.5RS couple which is Blue Ridge Pearl has better quality paint then my 2007 STi in Urban Gray which is weird since it's a 7 year difference. Did something change between those 7 years regarding paint laws? My RS has gone through hell and back and the paint never failed even when I got hit big time, the paint never chipped or came off.

I love my subie and all, but the paint is such a damn joke. One thing that makes me feel better is Mitsubishi has it worse then us.

clear bra.. I just picture a model sitting on my bug eye wearing a sheer bra... I no longer want to be at work. Few more days and my 2.5 build, vf39, pinks, and tmic swap will be done. Heads will be done soon from the valve job. Couple days after that its break in time. 1000 miles after that its tune time. ... 1 mile after that its YAHWEEEEEEH.

Yeah man, my 2000 2.5RS STM has been through hell and back, has it's share of dings, and besides the front bumper and the hood (car came from Colorado) nothing else has ever actually chipped or come off. I notice often too if my wife is picking me up somewhere, the paint looks almost new as the car is coming down the street, even after I haven't washed it in months. Now I do polish it at least once a year and wax often, but I would say even on bad days the paint looks better than a lot of newer cars, say a newly washed civic or something.

Since we are on the paint topic...anybody know a best bang for the buck paint shop in the bay area? I'm thinking of changing from psm to the white which is on the 2009 WRX not sure if its the same white or a new color code.

I'm sure someone else can chime in on this, but I think that the majority of auto manufacturing plants in Japan have converted to using paints that are low VOC...and/or water-based instead of solvent-based. Much more environmentally friendly...but alas, does not stick on as well.

Slightly on topic (maybe this will help brucelee in the near future) - Is there a good tutorial online for removing/stopping small rust spots? Like applying stop-rust, primer and touch up? I have some starting in my sun-roof, and also some starting on a small scrape on the rear fender near the wheel well.
