my seemingly shady encounter with san leandro pd
If you don't mind me asking... How dark was your tint? I have never had an issue with front license or tint... I have yet to have an issue with chp or local cops. I'm 35% all around. My previous car was 20% all around

But thats the thing. I had proof that my plates were mia and the dealership made an appointment for me to come down on the 30th to remove my tint and retint with the legal percentage for free. They could have checked my evidence and let me go. I dont want to be stuck paying court fees n a prior fix it ticket if i didnt have to. I was pulled Over 2 weeks prior for tint and i showed him my proof and previous citation. He let me go and told me to fix it b4 the due date feb 1st or else im at will to get cited again with a non correctable.
You were told straight up, TWICE by the sound of it, that if you don't fix your tint you will get another ticket. Not make an appointment or a plan to fix it, but to actually fix the thing which is against the law. You chose to drive the car in the same condition which caused you to be pulled over twice before. Sounds like you were lucky that they didn't write you a non-correctable AGAIN.
There is no legal/illegal tint percentage limit in CA. Which means you will be ticketed for having ANY kind of tint on the front 3 windows. Don't be surprised if you get another ticket after they re-do it. You keep racking those up and it's going to get expensive.
Same with the plates. Having proof that your plates are MIA is not fixing the problem. It's just proof that you haven't taken appropriate action to fix the thing which is illegal. Proof that you have taken action would be a temporary paper plate/registration which the DMV would issue you if you went to them and rectified the situation.
You chose to break the law. They chose to enforce it. Sounds like there was nothing shady about this encounter at all. Know what I do when I don't want to get ticketed for the illegal condition of my car? I don't drive it in public. Sorry you got caught up, but you were asking for it.
They could have. They could also have not pulled you over.

Granted that the tint issue is a coin toss since it seems that no pd aeem to have the same vision of the law (said by my friend who is sfpd) but if they would have had the decency to investigate my side right there WITH MY PROOF and having my license reg and insurance check out then they would have witnessed undeniable validation of my story point blank. They were *******s from the start and made me feel towards the middle that profiling was apart of their actions which made me feel super uncomfortable and "trapped" thats not how people who put their lives at risk for the public should treat the "public" during a routine training stop. If thats the case then im better off not living in a city smh.
I admit black people **** me off and im black lol we make a mockery of ourselves in the media and tend to throw the race card freely. Racism is still alive in the US but the thing that bothers me is at many times , including this , i have done nothing wrong to earn that stereotype.
1) im not riding in a "scrapper" or other car with enormous rims; im driving a farely new rally car from a dealership
2) i wasnt dressed like a thug or unrulely; i was in sweaty gym clothes
3) i wasnt blasting tupac or lil wayne or any rap and hip hop artist. I was listening to disturbed at decent car level even as the cops approached me and
4)i wasnt rude nor dounded "ghetto" and defiant, i spoke highly intellegent as well as remaining respectful and co operative up until the citation moment. Lol funny thing is i dont even sound "black" as some of you who knows me could vouch lol and alot of people are pleased at my level of articulation and demeanor
All in all because im black with dreads near oakland ive already hit my "3 strikes" with most law enforcers and with societys conception on a few races and stereotypes im already at a disadvantage. It sucks and thats the reality. I appreciate the level of honesty everyone here and feel like a family member with you guys. But we all know things could have played out a few different ways and i was stripped of a very few civil liberties

Same vision of the law it says it's unlawful for any obstructions on any window forward of the b pillars. Given it's stated closely in another code that up to 70% of visible light must go through. But that's your uv protectant window comes factory.
Doesn't matter how someone views it. It's illegal regardless.
Same goes to the no reg no plate. Some may have let you go but by law within 90 days you must have your plates. By 90 days your temporary registration from the dealer is void. Yeah it's a hassle the place I work for always deals with temp tags to get vehicles registered and my boss has for sure been hassled over it but it's fact that there's way too many people abusing the system.
Tell you this. My mom picked up a Prius V in 2012. I drove it around the first week of owning it since my car wasn't running well at that point in time. I got pulled over in San Mateo because I had dealer plates. He said it's becoming more routine because people will go years without displaying their assigned plates.
Don't blame the cop blame the abusers but then again they may have gone a bit over the top. Regardless the laws the law unfortunately.

Ok and i agree. But I would have highly appreciated If they would have politely and professionally explained the reasoning behind their suspicions and reasoning behind the citation and system abuse. I didn't act rude or belligerent at all yet i felt i was treated as a convict from jump street. The plate issue sucked and yeah now i know the reasoning (and i shouldnt have learned it from you guys but those jerks the prior night) and it was truely bad timing but if i was given a chance to prove my innocense and lack of knowledge on that issue i think any reasonable person would have handled my traffic stop differently. Being or not cited is a coin toss but the atmosphere would and should have been different. Hence why i felt played out of my rights at that moment.
If i wasnt told what i was told by my initial citing officer (who was super cool older guy who.admired subarus) that i had this "immunity" of being cited on top of a citation there would have been a larger sense of urgency from me hands down. Thats what i meant from vision heedz not all officers are on the same page with their views of a law.

I didn't put the plates on my car until I got a ticket. Just saying... well over a year after I purchased the car. Got a ticket from BART P.D.
