My Motor Blew Up
In rather spectacular fashion at today's AutoX.
Gilbert was driving it on his 3rd run, I was the passenger. We didn't hear anything, it just lost power, and white smoke started billowing out of the hood vents and scoops.
Found oil pooling in the center of the block, and also found from small 2-3 cm chunks of cast aluminium. So far it seems that it got oil starved and cyl 4 crapped out. I don't know if it's a bearing, or a rod, or what. But it's definitely toast.
I'm in the market for a 99-01 SOHC 2.5L Short/Long Block with less than 100k miles. Hit me up if anyone see's anything.

PS: The car has 169k miles on it. 112k of those are mine, and are of course hard miles.

You know, there was a time when you could barely give your NA motor away after doing a swap... now it seems the boards are ghost towns for NA blocks. I'll be looking. hopefully I'm lucky soon.

And mine were HARD miles... The only time I didnt redline it was when I was driving my mom around.
Plenty of track days, mt hamilton, etc. It wouldnt have blown if the old pump would have been installed properly.

Gilbert and I didn't hear anything while driving it, but everyone working the course said they could hear the car knocking as we approached them. They also said it only seemed to knock when the Revs where low in the RPM band like leaving a turn. If the oil pump went out, it wouldn't surprise me.

It was running PEACH, and then BOOM!
Because of the onset of the knock noise within' 1 run, I feel that it must've been some sort of oil slosh or simply the failure of the oil pump...
When I meant it was running so well, the heads, and piston rings were in good shape the best Adam at LIC could figure. But there was no way in the world that anyone could've seen this coming today.
No... I'm not going turbo swap so soon.
