Unhappy My Dog busted his ACL and needs surgery...

Some of you have probably seen my dog Chopper here in i-Club.
Well, it turns out that he busted his ACL while playing with his sis Coco.

I took him to the vet and they said it will cost $3500 for the surgery.
That seems a little high for me considering my girlfriends moms poodle
had major surgery to get some organs taken it out for $5000.

Have any of you had a dog with a busted ACL?
How much did the surgery cost?
What Vet did you take it to?

My cat tore up her knee somehow one night, it cost about $2000 to fix her up.
A few years before that my border colie had hip dysplasia, it cost about $3500 to get her a hip replacement Steve Austin style.

both times, Pet Care Santa Rosa

Yea, I've been searching around the web and it sounds like $3500 is about the price.

Well my dog just had surgery on his hip because of some hereditary disease, cost me ~$2000. I took my dog to the All pet hospital in Oakland, its right between international and high st. The service is not that great but the prices is good compared to other vets out there. Their # is 510-532-1711, ask for dr. freitas. Dont talk to the assistant or anyone else because they're super ghetto and don't know what they're talking about.

I'm planning on getting insurence for him. They said it won't cover the surgery of course and wont cover the surgery for the other leg if he ever needs it. They say it's because since he busted this one, there's a high chance of him tearing the other in the future.

My Bichon Frise had a slipped disk in her back, it was roughly 5K for her surgery IIRC.
