It must be nice to work for Google! (all 23,000 employees get a 10% raise)

Have you guys seen this? Google is giving EVERY employee (over 23,000 employees BTW) a 10% raise!

Here's a wall street journal article about it:

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000...596157634.html

A snippet from the above article:

The pay hike comes as Google ramps up its battle with competitors, especially neighboring Facebook Inc., in a fight to secure talented staff. Roughly 10% of Facebook's employees are Google veterans and other Silicon Valley companies have aggressively poached employees from the Internet giant.

Chief Executive Eric Schmidt disclosed the raise in an email to employees, saying the company wants to lift morale. "We want to make sure that you feel rewarded for your hard work," Mr. Schmidt wrote. "We want to continue to attract the best people to Google."

I just found out that on top of the 10% raise, every employee is getting an EXTRA $1000 holiday bonus (Remember, that's ON TOP of their normal holiday bonus!!!).

It must be friggin NICE.

I have a friend who was laid off from google about 6 months ago, he's going to be SHATTERED when he finds out about this... Oh man, I'd be so bummed if I was him!

Average joe google employee is thinking, "YEAH! 10 mother-effing percent! AWESOME!".

Imagine what that does for the top wage earners at the company. Those are the guys that probably made the decision.

I remember almost working there a few years back....offered some redonkulous salary of like 35k (took a 55k job). It's kind of the norm from what i've heard. Plus (in IT anyways) it sounded like they lived there.

I used to work there, it's good times but they do pay less than most of the valley. The free food is what picks up the slack.
