The injectors go to min. duty cycle and basically use no noticeable amount of fuel until the RPMs reach idle at which time the car has to use fuel to prevent the engine from stalling.

When I coast downhill at idle in my GX470 in Drive, it shows about 50 or so MPG. When I put it in 4th gear and the car is "engine braking" down the hill, it goes to 99.9+ MPG and maxes out on the dial.

I have been keeping close track of my mpg. I just bought the car and have only filled up 3 times. I am averaging around 20 mpg. For those of you who are getting good miles per gallon, what kind of city driving would you recommend? I have been shifting around 3k rpm to try and conserve a little. Since the car is new to me I am driving a little more spirited then I usually do, but would like to get some decent mpg also.

Up the tire pressure higher than the factory has it. I usually run about 35 PSI. I believe the factory sets it at 29? Remember, cold temps, if you're driving hot, I'd say about 38-40 hot.

Other than that, don't WOT, keep driving conservatively, and get a tune so your car doesn't run as rich.
