c'mon now - I'm no Steve Peat or Sam Hill. Just an ordinary guy that likes riding his bikes! I don’t ride to race or prove myself to anyone – riding is all about having fun and sharing that with friends.

As long as YOU feel fast and as long as YOU are having fun…that’s all that counts! Doesn’t matter if you’re faster/slower, first/last at the top of the climb, first/last one down the descent, on rigid bike or long travel full suspension bike! Just make the best out of what you have.

Bikes are so damn cool! Whether its road, xc, dh, ds – it’s all fun to me!

With that said my favorite riding spots are SC, Skeggs and Demo. Since I live in Milpitas, during the weekdays I mostly ride Fremont Older or do Road rides up Calaveras/Felter.

During the summer I hit North Star almost every weekend. This summer they were closed, so I did a lot more All-Mountain riding than DH. Good news tho, they will definitely be open next summer and from what I hear they plan on being more whistleresque. They already have sponsorships on board from fox, oakley, and dakine, but are looking for some really big ones.

Bootleg Canyon is also a super fun spot if DH is your thing…I usually try to hit that place up a few times during the winter months.

God…now I wanna ride!

Flume in the summer is good too. We usually stay at Northstar, drive up Friday night, do Flume all day Saturday, bbq at night, a couple of runs at Northstar downhill on Sunday then drive back Sunday night.. There's always this section of Flume trail though that I haven't conquered yet...the 3 times that I've been there, I always had to walk this steep climb...I think it's mile 7 or 8 before you get to the lake...you gotta be in shape to ride Flume though...and the only shape I'm in is round

Flume is okay - but I would rather ride Toads or Hole in the ground. Flume has scenic views and if you’ve never ridden that trail I suggest you do at least once in your life. But the ride itself isn't that challenging for me.

ive always ridden UCSC trails and thats all, so maybe someone can get me going again, i always see DH bikes coming out of stevens creek, and on top of 9 and 35.

so if anyone would let me in on some cool spots or meets in the Southbay that would be COOL
Hey, dude, check out the NorCal forums on mtbr. There's a ton of guys in your area that are regularly doing weekday and weekend rides. Also, if you want, we have a regular group of riders who get out on the weekends (ok, the regulars are me and Egan, some other guys tag along on occasion), but we usually ride Auburn and that's a bit of a trek for you . Maybe during the summer we can put together some kind of i-club ride

I'm trying to get back into it myself. I used to race DS before it became 4x.

I live in watsonville. last time I road was at the soquel demo forest...brail trail. I'm looking to possibly build a HUGE dj set at my house and possibly a foam pit.

I don't have anyone to ride with and I am rediculously out of shape and rusty..but I am in the process of changing the out of shape deal.

I like single track and downhill...not a fan of climbing and neither is my bike.

Bikes, cars, friends...AND beers! great combo!

I've been seeing quite a few Subys at the trail heads. A few weeks ago I was at Demo and couldn't believe the numbers of Subys that were parked along the street! very cool...

I'm a traitor and did the unthinkable -- I bought a road bike to train during the off-season, when the trails are closed. However, the more miles I logged on the roadie, the easier it became to simply get out there and ride without having to negotiate technical elements of the MTB trails.

Now, I do 80% road. However, I would like to get back on my mountain rig (Ellsworth Truth) so if you guys do a group ride, I'd like to join!

That said, I like Skeggs and Fremont Older. I ride Quicksilver when I need to do a quick ride for training. On weeknights after work, I ride Alpine Rd.

that's not being a traitor it's quite honestly being smart. When I raced DS I had a road bike I did a TON of training on. I put a huge sproket combo on it and would train in my sprints and I'd do uphill standing climbs on it...when I raised I NEVER got out sprinted at the end in expert class.

It's a great thing to do...shoot my roadbike is still chilling on the wall and my race bike is long gone. STOLEN!!!!

yeah I also ride road (on an old clapped out CX bike with slicks) to sustain my fitness whenever I can't hit dirt - gives me my riding fix and keep me in shape for those long epic trail rides.

You are correct on all points. It's great to live in an area that has so many spots to take advantage of... Unlike Florida... Ug. I felt so lost an incomplete without any mountains/hills.
