Top speed on the 250 is 100mph

600cc is too much for me to handle as I'm not going to have any seat time on a bike until I take the MSF course in january. I want to get used to handling a small bike which must be driven well to keep the speed around turns and such, plus the price is right and will probably only upgrade the bike if I have the ability and desire to several years down the road.

Get a dual-sport, so it won't matter if you dump it. They are very easy to maneuver, too. I took my license test on a KLR 650, as it was tough as hell to pass on my yzf.

Took my license on my Katana 600 (big, heavy, sporty not sportsbike). THAT was an adventure! Everybody around me was on shifter-scooters or little 250's... But I passed.

No way you will kill yourself on a 600, not saying you're irresponsible but when you first learned to drive did you learn in a porsche 911? That would actually be safer, hence the doors and airbags.A 250 is great, and when you learn to ride it you'll even have a faster corner speed than anything else. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, even a "600" is capable of sub 11 second 1/4's and 160+ speeds. Go for the ninja 250 those things are tight.

there's some other forums for bikers out there , check out

www.bayarearidersforum.com

www.southbayareariders.com

also, motostrano is having a sale going on this weekend, check'em out at www.motostrano.com

There will be a guy out there performing stunts on his harley, suppose to be pretty sick.

I think one of the best way to learn how to ride is off road. Or best, get a motard

I took my license on my dad's old bike. heh. Not actual pic but similar. It really rides like a bike so the test was cake.
