True, (about lying to the cops).

I feel bad, I know why they hassle, it's "scary" enough approaching an unknown person in a car, yet alone if you cant see in, lots of cops get shot that way.

On my last car, GTI(has 5 windows), I had Limo 5% on the rear 3, and 20% on the driver/passenger. I loved it.

In fact, maybe I'll go get my Sube tinted right now. Hmm. 5% rear 5, 20% D/P!!!

same for me on my last 3 vehicles. perfect.

I really think cops are cracking more and more down on these insignificant laws. Sure, I wouldn't care as much if they got him for speeding and then tried to add on these, but he's still in break in, so he's babying it like no other, and they all they tried to get him was for no front plate.
They arent "cracking down" per se; they are supposed to be cracknig down on drugs/terrorism. Since that doesnt create revenue, they have to spend an equivalent amount or more time writing chicken-S tickets for no front plate & having front tints. They'll claim its a safety issue, since with front tints they cant see inside to the driver/passenger when approaching the vehicle (per my CHP source).

For drivers like most of us; front tints keep the passenger compartment cooler, control glare, reduce sunlight wear on the interior, and provide a reasonable amount of privacy. Sure would be nice if this argument held up in court for most of us....it does for celebrities.

I understand the safety issue with tint. Which is why I always roll down both windows when I get pulled over, not because of the 45% tint, but because it'll create that safer environment for cops.

I guess I'm just mad that they hassled my friend for not having a front plate and tried to get him for not having registration considering he bought it less than a week ago.

Yeah that happened to my buddy when he got pulled over in his new A3. Pulled over in San Leandro a week after he got the car. Still had dealer plates and not even 1k on the odometer and they're all "why dont you have plates?". I've had my WRX over a month and still havent gotten my plates from DMV.

Tint wise I usually roll down my fronts (50% tint) when I'm on city streets where I know there'd be cops...unless its raining then I just hope for the best.
