Exclamation More KCPG10 Skyline goodness!

As a follow up to my highly (un)popular KCPG10 Skyline shakotan Herra Frush post, I'll make up for it and post something hardcore JDM.

I present to my fellow BAIC'ers.....

Man, the classic styling makes me miss my '72 Datsun 510.

I really like the old styling of the classic skylines, really reminds me of the old Datsun 510s (for obvious reasons).

In stock for (I mean STOCK, maybe with good modern tires), how do these cars perform? Compared to other cars in their timeframe, did these cars perform as well as the skylines of modern times (in comparison to the cars of the time obviously)? Or do we just like these cars because they bear the same name?

Regardless of how they performed, they still look really nice (A lot of people prefer American muscle cars for classics, I prefer cars like these in terms of styling... Small, boxy, and sexy!), and some modern aftermarket mods transform them into classic pocket rockets!

EDIT: Although I do love Japanese classic cars for their simple styling cues, and normally prefer them over their American muscle counterparts, I still prefer a good old fashion 67-68 Chevy Camaro... Best looking classic car EVER!

I dont think there is a "Hood Ride" club amongst the Skyline community...
But it would make a SWEET rat rod....

Well, if you consider the competition at the time, the "Hakosuka" GT-R was pretty formidable. It technically had more power than a Toyota 2000GT, and it whomped on the Isuzu Bellett GT-R, Toyota TE27 Levin/Trueno, 1st gen. Toyota Celica GT, Honda S500 (a little earlier than the KPCG10), Mitsubishi Galant GTO, etc. Think about it like this: Remember how awesome the S30Z was? The GT-R was even BETTER!

In modern times, the Hakosuka can still be a beast. Just have a look at this example of an RB swapped coupe from Rocky Auto

see the S30Z vid on youtube? That is just awesome... Hey, if those skylines are available, i'll take one and restore one. It'll be a lot of work, but it'll be well worth it.

Oh, and as for the Hakosuka, its engine was already pulled. Wha? Huh? Did I hear someone say RB26DETT?!
