:monkey: UPS and their crap customer serive!
Don't be too suprised if you recieve lackluster service at the Sunnyvale UPS depot as well. UPS has somehow been *unable* to find my house several times, forcing me to go to their depot (by the way, I live like two miles away from it). I've had to explain countless times that all they need to do is go to the front door of the house and knock!!
Not too many smiling faces down there.

yea, the same thing happen to me before. I went down to the depot and yell at everyone to get their attention
after that they scramble around the depot finding my package
Anyways, i would take UPS instead of fedex usps and any other shipping company

after speaking to the manager at the sunnyvale depot, i fully expect to go in there and find the place staffed by people that resemble the hunchback of notre damn, only with fewer social and customer service skills. if yelling is what it takes to get things done there, thats fine with me.
i just hope the little bastards haven't broken anything.
as for driving down to the depot every time to pick up a package, i kinda think that defeats the purpose of shipping. if i was going to do that, i might as well never buy anything from a merchant that i wasn't willing to drive to, and pick up the item myself.

The alpine deck that i order was shipped via UPS and when no one was home at the time UPS stopped by, so they left the package on the front steps. Luckily my bro got home about 10 mins after the drop off. This has been the 3rd time that a package has been just dropped off on the front steps. No matter what shipping service you go to, they will always find a way to **** you off.

Sorry to hear about that **** you dealt w/ at the UPS in Sunnyvale. I happen to work for UPS (San Bruno) in theri IE department. The idiot you talked to was probably just a clerk who didn't know what the hell he is talking about. Drivers on average are not back until 7 pm. There should have been no reason for him not to have dropped off your package if you left him a note to do so.
Here's the deal w/ UPS drivers, they are in a UNION. Even if they do a lousy job, it's nearly impossible to get them fired. There are drivers who do a good job, but there are always those lazy f***ks who don't really care as long as they get their $23 per hour. FEDEX on the other hand, uses subcontract drivers, so if they do a lousy job, they get a pink slipped shipped via FEDEX.
dropkick_muppet: if you happen to have the name of the so called manager you talked to, PM me the info. My old manager is now the new head honcho for the Sunnyvale facility. I'd love to drive down there so I can get these center guys to clean up their act.

it's hard for me to stick up for UPS since I work for them. They still ask me to play Santa and it's February.
Being a "monkey inconsiderate *******" (or whatever I am) I do enjoy staying out late at night delivering when people write on the note saying to deliver at this time (even when I'm across town making my pick ups). And the car that cut me off is the same one in the driveway. Being home at a decent hour and a nice cooked meal is lame.
We actually don't get paid per stop or package (Fed Ex ground does) we get paid by the hour.
When adult signature is required, it's to keep "alcohol, electronics, drugs..." out of the wrong hands. On all Dell and Gateway computers, they ask for signatures. Having ammo isn't anything unless you have the gun, right? Sometimes we're just looking out for you.
**** does happen. Happens a lot. The safe way is to have it delivered to work or will call. Most of the time, shippers don't package things properly. Modacar tried to ship a Integra engine (obvious freight) out of state and yes, the engine sat on the floor.
There are drivers that are dicks, in by five, don't do ****, sit under a tree and wack it, but then, there are monkey dick-faced idiots like me still playing Santa at 9pm that are offended.

I try to have them ship stuff to my office that way i don't miss them and they get that signature they crave. Overall some delivery guys are cool. i left a note one day with my signature and i said, "i NEED this package asap but im at work!"..."please forge this signature"...sure enough he left the package with a note that had a smiley face on it saying "happy b-day"

hey man. Flame on!
Clerks aren't drivers. Driver's don't become clerks after a hard's day work. The person you talk to on the phone is not the driver or the clerk either. The person on the phone dispatches the message to the center. Please understand there is mad communication involved for anyone's shipment.
I can't speak for Richmond (which does suck) or other centers, but I feel I work for the better of many centers (but management still sucks for keeping me out late).
P.S. we're no different from anyone else. Unlike cops.
