:monkey: UPS and their crap customer serive!

so i've been waiting for my new Alpine head unit to arrive via UPS since monday. they tried to deliver it in the early afternoon, and left me a notice saying that they needed an adult signature. okay, no biggie. i left a note on the door with the notice, and signed the note.

tuesday rolls arround, and they tried to deliver the package in the early afternoon again. the note wasn't good enough, so they left another notice.

wednesday, the same as tuesday except that they left a 'final' notice. that night, i submitted a request online to have it delivered today -- but after 6pm when i could be here to sign for it.

today, the deliver guy came by at 1:56 in the afternoon. when i got home and found a fourth notice, i called their 800 number to see if i could get a live person to scream at.

after much waiting, and talking with a nice 800 number operator, i was told that i'd recieve a call from the area manager within the hour. homey finally called at about 6pm. apparently, the UPS driver that services my area gets off work at 4:30 in he afternoon. i'm taking a two week class that gets out at 5:30pm in Mountain View. to make a very long conversation short, the manager basically told me that it was my problem, and that there wasn't a damn thing that he was going to do to solve it. as such, i have to stop in at the sunnyvale UPS depot to pick up my goddamn package. now, it cost me $14.95 to have this package shipped, and i now have to drive at least twelve miles out of my way for the privledge of claiming something that i paid for.

UPS

the freakin' snivelling, incompetent, impolite, underachieving, snot nosed punk @$$ manager who wouldn't do a damn thing to serve a paying customer. people like that need to get fired, and then beaten down by their customers.

it would have been faster and easier to have my package delivered by freakin' camel freight from northern Uzbakistan than to have the Underachiever Package Service deliver it.

double :monkey UPS. in the future i'll pay whatever it takes to have someone else, and just about anyone else deliver my goods.

the kicker, which i didn't mention earlier, is that they left a *differant* package for me today. apparently its just fine to leave one on my doorstep, but not the other one...

Yes. UPS blows. Sometimes your part will come in on a Friday, and sit at the main office, albeit Menlo Park, and you can't pick it up yourself. So you have to wait until Monday for it to arrive. UPS blows

I'd take UPS over FedEx or USPS any day.

what's worse is that i bought some ammo online.

right on the box, reg tad: MUST SIGN BY AN ADULT.

so i wait the day they were gonna deliver. i hear doorbell. i run down there. i open door, i head UPS truck zooming away with a box of ammo sitting on doorstep...

funny, they'll leave live ammo on someone's doorstep, but my alpine head unit is obviously too dangerous to be left on it's own.

i've gotta train my 100lb German Shepherd to answer the door and sign for deliveries...

i'd pick UPS over Fed Ex too.
If you read closely, it'd say "Adult Signature required ON DELIVERY". Not sign the back to have package delievered.

If you don't like UPS, don't vent. This is a Subaru forum, right?

The adult signature requirement is usually asked for by the shipper. Not UPS. Having it signed means someone else won't lift it at your door.

I have, in the past, refused to do business with online shippers that only offered UPS shipping. I will always prefer FedEx and USPS over UPS. They are the worst of the lot when it comes to the reciever's end.

this is the bay area forum, which is notorious for being *way* off topic. considering tha the shipment was parts for my Subaru, this is way more on topic than a lot of the stuff that goes on in here.

the deck is an Alpine 9813.

Well, I would agree that I would take UPS over fedex or USPS on packages.

I am a Field technician for HP/compaq and I get all of my parts at the verious UPS locations around the San Jose, Santa Cruz area. Their drivers are paid on how many packages that they get delivered and they do get a stern talking to if a pakage that indicates to get an adult signature and they don't. I have seen it happen.

One recomendation I give to everyone is when you get something delivered via ups, have it held at the ups location and get your lazy a** down to there and pick it up. That way there will be less damage to your package and you don't have to deal with any of drivers and you can actually talk to a live person and get some action when it is damaged or what not. I know that doing this is a little more hassle, but it will pay off in the long run. That is what I do with all of my personal things. And, yes, it does help that I am at the UPS Wearhouse everyday.
