huh? I would be jumping for joy. if it was raining you shouldn't have been speeding. he did let you off. as for the tinting, you are breaking the law. I've been pulled over for mine and paid the fee, you don't get a point on your record.

btw, still sucks since it was your bday but still look at it from a different angle.

Thumbs down

Thats gay, I wouldn't even consider 67 in the rain to be speeding by my standards, but I guess the cop thought differently so him! About the tint thing.....I have 35% front and 10% rear, is that illegal I'm pretty sure in the back you can get whatever darkness you want but I don't know what the limit is for the front windows.

I was in the CHP office the other day picking up an accident report. They have an informational paper on car mods.

According to the paper there is no tint allowed in teh front. The answer I have always got from pfficers and the CVC is that the only tinting allowed in the front must have been factory installed and may only be the UV block....no darkening.

I have limo in the rear and back sides, and like the 2nd step in the front (I think its a 75% transmission film or a block of 35% depends ont he maufacurer which percentage you use) and it isn't too noticeable because fo how dark the rears are.

I have some friends who did the 35% all around and got busted, but I havent heard of people with the dark rear and lighter front getting popped. So who knows.

Also sonething interesting....if you have dark rear tint you must have a right side mirror installed (this would go fo rolder cars i guess seeing as now they all come with them....)

Speaking of cops, i counted 8 (thats right EIGHT) cops camping the turnouts in pairs on saturday, as i missed the departure at west valley college i decided to head off the group (then i remembered they were going north not south) but anyway while i was on 17, there were all those cops PLUS one at the beginning of my pack of cars, pace-car.....ing the whole field, he was straddling both lanes so nobody could pass. At first i thought it was an accident up ahead, but there was nothing.

WTF??

cops are gay, but i would rather take a tinting ticket rather than paying 150+ for a speeding ticket and traffic school which is about another 50 and keep my insurance down.

FWIW, my STI has a +4 mph speedo error.

with non OEM tires, your speedo might read slower than actual.

on then my wrx, stock RE-92s read about 1.1 mph diff at all speeds.

this was using my garmin gps unit to get all the speed readings.

btw, was it a fix-it tix for the ILLEGAL tint?
no offense taken...Please dont take offense to this either..however.....the legality of my window tint is invalid when you see the point of my argument.....

first of all....speed limit = 65 mph, speed of Ted = 67mph, Difference of 2 mph ??????????? be realistic...seriously......now even IF, the remote possibility of me actually going 70 mph, were true.....why was it ok for the cop to be going EASILY 75-80 mph less than 30 seconds before he pulled me over? (I was behind him going WITH THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC, and when there was a break in traffic...he sped up to atleast 80 until he hit the next pod of traffic, less than 1/4 of a mile ahead, then pulled into the middle lane behind a truck going like 60, and when my lane of traffic caught up to the po po, and well, eventually passed him.....he busted a move hella close to my rear bumper behind me (I couldn't even see his headlights he was so close) , and turned on his lights.

But thats not the point.....

I had my side windows tinted, knowing full well that it was illegal...so getting the ticket for that was not the issue...and I am aware that it is not a moving violation...I have had my fair share of fix-its with my truck.

although I WAS PISSED about him saying **** simply due to the fact that my lane of traffic passed him on the freeway....I was going 2 F*CKING MPH over the speedlimit....and that mo fo DID NOT radar me....and pacing me would have revealed that I was NOT going 70 (if he knew how to drive well enough to get an accurate measurement, that is)

but again THAT was not the point either.....

now if you read the title of this thread: ":monkey : bored cops, I got a ticket on my BDAY!!!!" Please take note of the last 2 words......":monkey : bored cops, I got a ticket on my BDAY!!!!"

ANYONE would be pissed about THAT!

so, now to recap........

BTW, I'm over it.....but I just thought I'd let everyone know, because thats what we do here, share stories, experiences, knowledge, fun, good and bad times...etc....., and I am thankful to have friends that actually give a crap about it.

whew, That took a really long time to write...I am gonna go chill for awhile......

Re: :monkey: bored cops, I got a ticket on my BDAY!!!!

So he takes all my info....writes me a ticket and comes back....then he says....."I'm not gonna write you up for speeding, but I am gonna ticket you for your window tint", and the MF hands me the ticket, ON MY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

-Ted [/B][/QUOTE]

Sorry to hear about the ticket...atleast it's onlya fix it instead of a speeding ticket. I agree stupid cops tryin' to make their numbers.

In defence of the cop, 65 is supposedly the speed limit for ideal conditions: little traffic on a clear day. Add rain and traffic and your supposed to slow down. The cop still sucks tho, today I was going to school and a CHP was radar-ing people and I saw he got one van doing 36 in a 25 with a school zone coming up, but he didnt do anything.
