Happened to me... twice. The second time, the guy did a double take and waved back really awkwardly while his girlfriend laughed it up =\

Two funny Subaru wave stories:
1. A few months back while my car was in the shop I was driving a late 90's legacy L wagon ( courtesy of my mechanic ) . This was my first time driving a non Turbo Subaru so as you can imagine I'm on total auto pilot... Meh slow car. Anyways, as I'm waiting at a light I notice another legacy just like the one I was driving ( same color too ) with a kinda lesbian looking drivier turning left towards me. Next thing I know the lady spots me and waves emphatically!... I was so surprised that all I could manage was a grin and half wave as she drove by.
2. One day on my way home I saw a stock sti headed in the opposite direction so I figured I'd wave.... as waved and did a double take I noticed the driver was a lady who looked to be in her sixties! You guessed it, she gave a relaxed wave back! It was awsome, I kinda wanted to track that lady down and talk cars lol.

Um, in #2 she just thought you were insane and wave happy. Should have threw her deuces LMAO!
As for #1, I don't usually wave to chicks in Subies because they NEVER wave back or think you are stalking them or they are lesbians LOL.

In my GD I get the wave most times. Even the evo folks give a nod. But I am almost always in my FJC and even with a Grimmspeed license plate frame people look at me like I'm crazy when I wave.
I was on the 80E passing the 580 split a couple of weeks ago and saw an old school Impreza wagon that was flat black, RHD and a younger asian guy driving. I was *so* waving and flashing the V and the guy just looked at me like I was nuts.
Like I said, older white guy... driving an FJ. He must of thought I was cray cray....
In my 98 Forester I got waves ALL the time. From burly looking ladies with big dogs in the back.

Ya most running a GD tends to wave back...
Possible reasons they dont wave back:
1. They didn't see you
2. They did see you but were in auto pilot mode and realize that they didn't wave back aka zombie mode.
3. They are completely stock and have no idea of the culture.
4. They hate you

If they're in what appears to be a stock car are look over 40, I don't bother usually.
And I know some folks like saluting any turbo Subie, but most people I see in say Outback Sports seem the angry Berkeley resident type... (Maybe mad that they don't have the requisite Saab or Volvo).
EDIT:
Exactly XD
